BMW is expanding itself in the esports scene today, as they have announced that they will be collaborating with 5 of the best esports Organizations: Cloud 9 (US), Fnatic (UK), Funplus Phoenix (China), G2 Esports (Germany) and T1 (South Korea). The principal service of the partnership includes travelling to and from events with BMW vehicles which have been customized for the team’s very own appearance. Another thing that BMW will be providing is a lot of assistance when it comes to social media engagement and collaborative content creation.
We’ve had similar collaborations with Team Liquid and Honda, FaZe & OpTic with Nissan, and Astralis with AUDI. However, this is much bigger than all the previous partnerships as this is the first time we’re seeing a vehicle company as big as BMW sponsor 5 esports organizations all together.
Here’s a video of Team Liquid showcasing one of their collaborative content they made with Honda:
These partnerships have helped these organizations a lot, whether it be the transport, social media engagement, etc… Having big companies such as BMW being a partner of your esports organization is good for the industry overall, especially when they’re pairing up with some of the best 5 organizations in the world.
The senior vice-president of customer and brand at BMW, Jens Thiemer has said the following about their recent partnership, “Joining forces with the best teams in the world, we aim to use our design and innovation skills to help shape the discipline in the long term. Our esports involvement is an important milestone providing, for the first time, a new intersectionality with a dynamic and fast-growing community. We consider esports a promising, growing addition to our marketing activities, helping BMW on its journey to becoming an emotive brand people relate to.”
