Infinity Ward have revealed that they will be releasing patch 1.29 for Call of Duty. This patch will consist of multiple updates and changes, however, the highlight change is the addition of private matches to Warzone. Here below are the patch notes for version 1.29:
What will the Private matches entail?
Infinity Ward have stated that this is only a Beta for their Warzone private matches, which means that the system may still not be perfect, and might need some adjusting after a couple of days. The Private matches for Warzone consist of 3 different modes: Battle Royale, Plunder, and Mini BR. Battle Royale, which will be the main game mode for most, will require a minimum of 50 players for a game to start. Plunder on the other hand will only require 30 players to start a game. This will probably opt for a more casual and fun type of game mode. And lastly, we have Mini BR, which will probably be more suited for players that would like to play a solo-type Battle royale, as it only requires 24 players to start a game.
Why is this big news?
It’s always amazing news whenever you hear that a Battle Royale will be receiving custom lobbies. This is because of many reasons, some being content, a way of interaction between a streamer and his fans; however, I personally think that the biggest reason is because of the esports potential that a battle royale like Warzone has. The game is simple to understand, easy to get into, but also has that high ceiling that not every player can reach.
Hopefully with this new patch, more Warzone tournaments will be getting hosted, so that the esports side of things, with regards to Warzone, continues to expand and grow.
