Event Background

Indeed, with regards to the event, it follows a series of events across the year. Appropriately, there have been September and June events. However, back then we saw multiple regions take part. Here, we’ll only be seeing Europe going at it.

Specifically, 8 of the best teams in the continent will be heading into an online event. With $100,000 on the line, the A-tier event organized by Intel organized by DreamHack will run from 10th to 14th November.

Below, find the 8 competitors listed below together with the means by which they’ve made it to the event:

  • BIG – Invited
  • ENCE – Invited
  • MOUZ – Invited
  • Team Spirit – Invited
  • MAD Lions – Closed Qualifier
  • Fnatic – Closed Qualifier
  • Team GamerLegion – Closed Qualifier
  • forZe – Closed Qualifier

Apart from the $100,000 on the line, there are also a handful of ESL Pro Tour points up for grabs. Also, the first seed of the event will earn a direct seed to the ESL Pro League Season 15 Conference.

Format

So, let’s talk about format. Split into two stages, it’s a typical format – Group Stage and Playoffs.

Accordingly, we’ll start things with the Group Stage. Moreover, there’ll be two groups of four teams each going at it in a double-elimination format. Here are how the groups will work out:

Group A:

  • BIG
  • MOUZ
  • MAD Lions
  • Team GamerLegion

Group B:

  • ENCE
  • Team Spirit
  • Fnatic
  • forZe

At this point in time, only the top 2 teams from each group will move on to the Playoffs stage. Accordingly, there’ll be a single-elimination bracket with the semifinals as BO3 matches and the grand final will be a BO5.

Predictions

In terms of predictions, we’ll be using the ongoing PGL Stockholm 2021 event as a measure of these teams. Naturally, many of the competing teams were involved in the event and have already earned a final placing.

  • MOUZ – 12-14th
  • ENCE – 15-16th
  • BIG – 17-19th
  • Team Spirit – 17-19th

The other four teams never made it to the biggest Major of the event, so it’s easy to say that they have a reduced chance of winning.

Accordingly, MOUZ (recently rebranded mousesports) might want to make up for their poor performance at the event to only manage a 12-14th finish at the largest event of the world.

Otherwise, the likes of ENCE will likely be contending with MOUZ for dominance at this event, while we’re not sure whether BIG or Team Spirit will place third. Accordingly, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on all of this.

FunPlus Phoenix CS:GO – Leaving the Scene

Just like esports organizations enter competitive scenes, they can leave too. Indeed, this tends to take place when the organization simply can’t seem to find a foothold for consistent results. Accordingly, it usually takes place shortly after joining. Indeed, FunPlus Phoenix CS:GO seems to be moving on!

FunPlus Phoenix CS:GO – All Players Free Agents

Hailing from China, the organization eagerly jumped into European competitive CS:GO back in January. Accordingly, they made do with the former GODSENT roster as listed below:

  • Jesse “zehN” Linjala
  • Martin “STYKO” Styk
  • Pavle “maden” Boskovic
  • Asger “farlig” Jensen
  • Luka “emi” Vukovic

However, despite high hopes, the results simply didn’t go the way of the organization. Take a look for youself at some of their performances over the past year:

  • 4th @ IEM XVI Winter European Qualifier
  • 14th @ Regional Major Rankings 2021: Europe
  • 9-12th @ IEM XVI Summer
  • 9-12th @ ESL Pro League Season 13

And like that, they failed to qualify for PGL Stockholm which is currently ongoing.

The news is not surprising that the organization announced their departure from competitive CS:GO in the following Twitter post below:

Of course, there’s more than just poor performance going on. We’ll be sure to see where FPX goes with this in the future.

Specifically, the organization has officially benched their entire roster now with the final two players to do so:

  • Justin “jks” Savage

“Today we are announcing that @COL_jks & @es3tag have been moved to our inactive roster while we seek to find them new homes. Complexity remains committed to CSGO and will be evaluating multiple options as we prepare for 2022. Thank you for your continued support.”
