Predictions

Heading into the event, it is without question that G2, NiP and Gambit have the highest chances of winning. They’ve recently all been successful in the last few events, and if they keep their consistency up, they can certainly seal the deal. On the other hand, we’ve Evil Geniuses which just recently lost Zews as their coach, and FaZe Clan, parting ways with Coldzera. It’s going to be interesting to see which team takes the cake, but until then, be sure to tune into the event and watch the amazing games!

Zews reportedly leaving Evil Geniuses

After 14 months with the North American team, Zews is reportedly leaving Evil Geniuses. Here’s everything you need to know.

Zews reportedly leaving Evil Geniuses – Why?

In the article it is stated that the main reason for his departure is due to “a difference of opinion regarding the team’s direction”. This could be a variety of things, but HLTV has not disclosed what this difference of opinion is.

Zews first joined Evil Geniuses back in April of 2020 after he was benched from MiBR. This wasn’t the first team he was coaching a North American team, as he had previously coached Team Liquid between 2016 and 2018.

Here are some of Zews’ best achievements with Evil Geniuses:

  • 1st in BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 American Finals – 21st June 2020 – $160,000
  • 1st at ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online – North America – 29th August 2020 – $65,000
  • 3rd in ESL Pro League Season 12: North America – 26th September 2020 – $36,000

What’s next for Zews?

Hard to say what lies in the future for Zews’ coaching career. There are very limited options on the market at the moment, and it seems like his only option is going to be switching to VALORANT. We cannot say for sure that Zews is departing from CS:GO, but we will have to wait for an announcement from him real soon about his situation.

Team Liquid crowned champions CS_Summit 8

Last weekend, Team Liquid were crowned champions of the CS_Summit 8 event. They dominated North America and came out on top, getting a huge portion of the prize pool and the highest RMR points. This is how it played out:

Final Standings + Winnings:

  • 1st – $17,000 – Team Liquid
  • 2nd – $10,000 – FURIA Esports
  • 3rd – $7,000 – EXTREMUM
  • 4th – $5,000 – O Plano
  • 5th – $4,000 – Extra Salt
  • 6th – $3,000 – paiN Gaming

  • 7th-8th – $2,000 – Bad News Bears

Team Liquid crowned champions CS_Summit 8 – How did they do it?

Team Liquid started it all with a great result in Group B. They beat Bad News Bears and Extremum in the group stage, and this got them to 2nd, qualifying to an upper bracket spot in the playoffs. Here they took down paiN Gaming with a 2-0 scoreline to advance to the upper bracket final. This is where they went into a very hectic best of 3 series with the Brazilian FURIA squad. Fortunately enough Team Liquid managed to close out Nuke with a 22-18 scoreline, and Inferno with a 16-14. With this win, they got into the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals

Meanwhile, FURIA dropped down to the lower bracket, and took down Extremum, to jump back up into the finals. Liquid won the first 2 maps with ease (Overpass 16-7, Nuke 16-11), and FURIA fired back with a 16-14 win on Inferno. However this was all for nothing as Team Liquid immediately got the lead back by winning on Mirage 16-5. Here are the final moments of the last map:

Mousesports win Flashpoint 3

This past weekend we saw Mousesports win the Flashpoint 3 event. They took down some of the best European teams and had a flawless run through the upper bracket. This is how it all went down:

Final Standings + Winnings:

  • 1st – $17,000 – mousesports
  • 2nd – $10,000 – Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • 3rd – $7,000 – G2 Esports
  • 4th – $5,000 – Heroic
  • 5th – $4,000 – BIG
  • 6th – $3,000 – Astralis
  • 7th – $2,000 – Team Vitality
  • 8th – $2,000 – Double Poney

Mousesports win Flashpoint 3 – How did they do it?

Mousesports kicked off the event with a huge upset versus Fnatic in the 1st round of the upper bracket. They then played against BIG, and also won 2-0 to get into the 3rd round. Here they met Astralis, and to everyone’s surprise, despite being a close series Mousesports also won this one. With this win they got into the upper bracket Final against G2 Esports, and once again, they 2-0’d them and sent G2 to the lower bracket final.

With the Grand Finals spot sealed and done with, they waited to see whoever will be their next opponent, whether it be, G2 of NiP. In the end it was the Ninjas that redeemed themselves and got their revenge on G2.

Grand Finals

In the Grand Final, NiP started out strong, winning the first map 16-13. However Mousesports reset their mentality and came back with a huge strike, winning both maps back to back (Nuke 16-6, Inferno 16-9). Here’s a preview of the final round:

With this win Ac0r got a back to back event win as he won with MAD Lions in the previous edition.

What’s next?

It certainly has been quite some time since we’ve seen this Mousesports lineup get a trophy, or a higher placement. Hopefully with this win, the team focuses on improving their consistency so that they can continue with this winnings streak. Their next event is the Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Cologne, taking place between the 6th and 18th of July.

Team Liquid and Furia reach Upper Bracket Finals in CS_Summit 8

With the closing stages approaching, Team Liquid and Furia managed to reach the Upper Bracket Finals in the CS_Summit 8 event. Here is how they did it:

Team Liquid and Furia reach the Upper Bracket Finals in CS_Summit 8 – How did they do it?

Team Liquid

Liquid started it all with a 2-1 win versus Bad news Bears in the group stage. Then, they played against Extra Salt, which unfortunately gave them a hard time in their best of 3 series, and lost 2-1. They then played out the decider match against Extremum, and won 2-1 to confirm their spot in the playoffs.

In the playoffs, they played versus the Brazilian paiN gaming first. Team Liquid performed flawlessly, and won both maps, (Nuke 16-7, Dust II 16-13). These wins got Team Liquid to win the series and get into the Upper Bracket Final.

FURIA

Furia had a very similar journey through the event. Much like Team Liquid, the Brazilian squad placed 2nd in the group stage, winning matches against Evil Geniuses and O PLANO.

With this, they got their playoff bracket seed, and came up against Extra Salt, a team that took down Liquid in the group stage. Furia won the first map (Nuke) 16-13, ES won Inferno 16-12, and to finish it all, Furia were victorious on Train (16-12).

Upcoming match-ups

Now they face off each other in the upper bracket final. It is set to play out on the 28th of May at 23:30 CEST. This event consists of a lot of RMR points, and will have a heavy impact on whoever gets to make it in the Major. The match will stream on the official BTSCSGO twitch channel here.

Mousesports reaching Flashpoint 3 Final after miracle bracket run

Yesterday, Mousesports won a match that resulted in them reaching the Flashpoint 3 Grand Final. Here is how it all panned out:

Mousesports reaching Flashpoint 3 Final – How did they do it?

Mouz started the event with a swift 2-0 win against the new Fnatic roster. Then came BIG Clan in the 2nd round, and they were also taken down by Mousesports 2-0. Their first struggle was against the Danish team of Astralis. In the first map (Nuke) they went to overtime, and somehow, Mouz got the edge, winning 19-17. Then on Overpass, Mousesports showcased an excellent T-side, which allowed them to get a huge advantage heading into the second half. At that point, there was no chance for Astralis to comeback, and Mouz won 16-12.

Progressing toward the Grand Final

With this win, Mousesports took on G2 Esports in the Upper bracket final. Maps chosen were Inferno and Nuke. In the first map, which was G2’s pick, we saw a dominant CT-side from Mouz. This resulted in a swift victory with a 16-10 scoreline. Then came Nuke, a map which they just won against Astralis. Fortunately, they replicated their success on the CT -side from the earlier map, and got another map win (16-13) to get into the Grand Finals.

What’s next?

The next phase of the event is the lower bracket final, which is playing out between G2 Esports and NiP. Both teams have showcased great performances, but unfortunately only one will make it into the Grand Final against Mousesports. Who knows, this might just be the start of a dominant run by this new European team.

Predictions for the IEM Summer 2021

So, who do we think is going to come out on top in the upcoming event?

A similar event of this sort is DreamHack Spring 2021, and here Natus Vincere managed to come out on top, followed by Gambit Esport. However, since Na Vi won’t be at the event, not many are sure as to who will come out on top. Namely, the fact that this event is online does add a certain curveball to the event as it may skew results.

Bearing this in mind, Gambit Esports, G2 Esports and Heroic are likely favourites heading into this event. However, the competitive state of CS:GO means anyone can take it at any time.

Evil Geniuses and Bad news bears eliminated from CS_Summit 8

This past weekend we saw a couple more games of the CS_Summit 8 event. The tournament is still in its early stages, and here we had Evil Geniuses and Bad news bears getting eliminated from CS_Summit 8 during the Group Stages.

Evil Geniuses and Bad news bears eliminated from CS_Summit 8

Evil Geniuses in Group A

The EG lineup kicked off the tournament with a match against the Brazilian paiN Gaming. PaiN have made significant improvements to their team, and surprised Evil Geniuses. Nuke went the way of paiN (16-11), Vertigo to EG (16-12) and lastly, Inferno (16-11) once more to paiN Gaming.

This loss put Evil Geniuses against FURIA in the elimination match of the group stage. The first map (Overpass) went the distance, as the final score was 22-20, favouring the Brazilians. Then came Inferno, and it was completely one-sided for FURIA. This loss eliminated EG from the event, and got sent home with a very small share of $2,000 in prize money.

Bad News Bears in Group B

BNB were in a similar situation to EG, as they lost their initial match against Team Liquid 2-1. This sent the North American squad to the elimination match against Extremum. Unfortunately, despite their valiant efforts, the team did not manage to win any of the matches in this series. Therefore placing 4th in the group stage and not qualifying to the playoffs.

Flashpoint 3 – Round 2 Upsets

Despite Flashpoint’s recent controversies and dramas, the event still progresses. In the latest matches we’ve seen in Flashpoint Season 3, we saw a couple of Round 2 upsets. Here’s all you need to know.

G2 Upset Heroic

Heading into the main event, many predicted that the G2 esports lineup would be a wildcard pick to choose. This is because lately they haven’t shown much success, and parting ways with their main awper KennyS, has certainly placed some doubts in many CS:GO fans. Despite this, the team proved everyone wrong by beating ESL Pro League 13 Champions Heroic. They kicked it all off with a huge victory on Inferno (16-11) and then Heroic replied back with a 16-14 win on Nuke. Then to end it all, G2 Esports clutched up a win on Mirage (16-7) to make it to the next stage!

NiP Upset FPX

As you may have seen, the Ninjas are one of the few teams that have made roster changes recently. Their newest addition, Dev1ce, 4-time major winner did not have the best debut in the beginning of the event, but has now redeemed himself. In their match versus FunPlus Phoenix, the team played on another level, overall the series was quite close, having Mirage concluding with a 16-12 score, and Inferno going into overtime with a 19-17 scoreline favouring the Swedes.

Flashpoint 3 Round 2 Upsets – What’s next?

With these wins, G2 and NiP will take on each other in the 3rd round of the upper bracket, set to take place on the 23rd of May at 21:00CEST. It’s certainly going to be exciting to see which team makes it to the Upper bracket finals, as they’ll be taking on either Astralis or Mousesports.

Flashpoint Change Overtime Rules amid Community Backlash

Yesterday, HLTV Staff writer Danish “Nohte” Allana took to twitter to address that FACEIT, which are hosting the 3rd season of Flashpoint, were not using the correct ruling when it came to overtime. A few hours later, Flashpoint opted to change their overtime rules amid community backlash. Here’s everything you need to know:

What happened?

As can be seen in the image above, other RMR (Regional Major Ranking) events have been using the proper overtime ruling. This was set by Valve themselves ahead of the major. So it was very weird to see Flashpoint, which is quite a big RMR event, using a different format with regards to its overtime.

At first, Nohte thought that Flashpoint might have been given the go ahead by Valve themselves to have a different format. However, this was not the case. A couple of hours later after his statement against the ruling, Flashpoint changed their rule set with regards to overtime.

Flashpoint Change Overtime Rules amid Community Backlash – What’s next?

Flashpoint has been a complete mess so far, especially with the recent NiP vs Anonymo drama which happened a few days ago. It’s showing that Flashpoint weren’t as professional as they were before and are not attending to situations accordingly. Hopefully in the events to come from FACEIT, these issues cease to exist.
