As I’ll reiterate, the Playoffs serve as the penultimate event before the World Cup 2021. Indeed, as part of the FIFA 21 Global Series, it’s split between PS4 and Xbox One. Accordingly, this event this weekend will focus on Xbox One, with $400,000 on the line. For this prize, 64 of the best competitors in the world will be fighting.

So far, the top 32 players is rather long, but it will all derive from the rankings of the FIFA 21 Global Series so far. An entire season of competition has built up to this essential point for competitors. Let’s jump right into the format!

Format

In terms of format, there are several stages to reach a final champion. To begin with, all competitors will be thrown into multiple Swiss Rounds, where everyone plays each other. Following five rounds of this, the top 16 will earn a spot in the Playoffs.

Within the playoffs, a double-elimination bracket will give players a chance to bounce back from a loss in the Winners Bracket. However, the only drawback being that being placed in the Losers Bracket means that the Grand Final will need resetting – two victories needed to take it home.

Predictions for FIFA 21 Global Series

In terms of predictions, there are five players who look like favourites for this event:

  • Dullenmi KE – the young phenom, Dylan was the youngest player ever to in a competitive FIFA tournament. Two years later, he is now a strong favourite to win this event and seal his legacy as a gifted player
  • Fnatic Tekkz – a season of not competing and he’s back in the limelight. He’s shown great promise in the past – this could be his year.

There are also other notable players to look out for:

  • Xmusti19
  • NIP Ollelito
  • Guild NR7

Beyond the event itself, we look forward to the sister event in the PS4 Playoffs. For both events, teams are hoping to slide in the Top 8 in order to earn a seed for the epic FIFAe World Cup 2021.

Beyond performance, however, we have expectations in other regards. Notably, we’re hoping that the online event will manage to rake in more viewers than previous FIFA events. This late into the season, there should be a notable peak which we can use to compare to other seasons.

How to Watch 2021 eChampions League: teams, format, schedule, streams, predictions

It’s been a while since we covered some competitive FIFA on the site. Indeed, the scene has been up and down with the consistency of events. However, this all stops now with the upcoming 2021 eChampions League on the horizon. If you’re curious to learn, read this episode of How to Watch!

Event Background

This yearly event is a highlight of the competitive FIFA 21 calendar. Accordingly, it brings some of the best players in the world together to compete for a juicy $280,000 prize pool. Indeed, only the top 8 players in the world will be competing in this EA hosted event which will all go down on 28th May.

Namely, here are the eight players who’ve made it to this event, all of which play on Playstation 4 platform:

  • OliBoli7
  • Er_Caccia98
  • HHezerS
  • Ktzn_91
  • EthxnH
  • Neat
  • OliverPN
  • OliverNoleReal

How were these top 8 players invited? They weren’t invited, but fought through a Knockout Stage, which hosted 32 players to sort this all out earlier this month.

Format

With everything taking place on one single day, the format is relatively simple. Indeed, it all boils down to an awesome double elimination format in one day. So far, according to seedings earned at the Knockout qualifier stage, the top 8 have been placed into the bracket and primed to go.

Here’s how the top 8 have been seeded:

Predictions

In terms of predictions, I’ll once again list how the players were seeded heading into this event.

  • 1st-2nd: EthxnH, OliverPN
  • 3-4th: OliBoli7, HHezerS
  • 5-8th: Er_Caccia98, KTzn_91, Neat, OliverNoleReal

Accordingly, the first and second seeds are favoured to win. Specifically, EthxnH is a new and upcoming talent over the past year. Besides this incredible performance at the Knockout stage, his best achievement is a 2nd place at the FIFA eClub World Cup 2020. Bearing this in mind, he’ll definitely be hungry to possibly make a name for himself while he has the opportunity.

The other player with a strong history is OliBoli7. Were it not for the lower seed, many would consider the Swede as the favourite for the event. Over these past few months, the player has been on fire with multiple victories at multiple small events. This includes the FIFA 20 Sumer Cup Series – Europe (3rd) and winning the eAllsvenskan 2020.

Moreover, the remaining player with a history if Neat, who came out as the eLaLiga 2020 – Grand Final Champion.

What about the remaining players? Like a few other esports such as Fortnite, the hugely open format of FIFA results in a constant supply of new names to the top of the scene. Especially OliverPN, he’s in an incredible spot to find an easy route to the grand final.

We’re excited to see the outcome of this upcoming event in the coming weeks. For more esports news, visit: https://www.esportsguide.com/news

Ever since October, with the release of FIFA 21, regional leagues have been booming. Accordingly, one league we’d like to focus on is none other than the ePremier League 2021. With £40,000 on the line, here’s a quick event preview.

ePremier League 2021 – Fact Sheet

  • Dates: March 23-26th

As a FIFA fan, what more could you want? With the list of 40 players already confirmed, it’s difficult to make predictions. Regardless, here are the top 4 finishers from last year, who are deemed as favourites heading into this event:

  1. Tom
  2. Marley1301
  3. Hamm-nd
  4. Tekkz

With all four of these players back, and some under new names, it’ll be exciting to see if Tom can defend his throne. However, the format is ripe for upsets and the pool of talent is very impressive – a new champion could arise!

FIFA Tips and Tricks – A Practical Guide

Indeed, with a loyal fan-base, it’s entirely possible to build an esports scene on yearly game releases. This is evident through the popular Call of Duty franchise and similarly through FIFA. Accordingly, in this featured episode here at esportsguide, we’ll be diving into some FIFA Tips and Tricks to give our readers the edge!

Mechanical Skill

As of right now, the main competitive framework for competitive FIFA remains based on console. Hence, we’ll be focusing on tips in this regard. As a simulator, aim isn’t too much of a worry here but moreso button combinations with regards to manipulating your team. Read on for our first set of FIFA Tips and Tricks:

  • Button layout – as a title, FIFA is renowned for its extensive amount of button combinations for both offense and defence. You’ll want to get very familiar with every single possible input to prepare to for any situation.
  • Mastering Jockeying – especially for defenders in FIFA 21, you’ll want to avoid aggressively tackling or losing a fast attacker and instead maintain a neutral position.
  • On the other side of things, you’ll want to not sprint once attacking. While you’ll go faster, ball control and dribbling are impeded drastically – probably resulting in eventual ball loss.
  • Accordingly, there are new attacking features in FIFA 21 – both Agile Dribbling and Creative Runs are worth a try to switch up your style
Credits: EA Games YouTube
  • Bearing this in mind – practice! We highly recommend giving the Training mode a spin. Through this mode you can work on your timing for tackles, shots and passes in a fun way.
  • Beside basic inputs, you’ll want to practice set pieces – free kicks, penalties, outs and corners are all golden opportunities which shouldn’t be wasted
  • Play against bots – you can get better at the game by gradually increasing the difficulty of an AI opponent too
  • Finally, as this is a console esport, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got the best controller possible for your game. If not, try purchasing a third-party one specifically for that purpose.

In-Game Knowledge and Awareness

One great thing about FIFA is how simple the game is to understand, as it integrates the rules of football so many of already know. Bearing that in mind, winning at FIFA requires much thought behind everything you do. It’s definitely a mind-game which varies against every opponent you play against:

  • Player choice – like chess, you need to pick your pieces. Indeed, you can have control over choosing all 11 players during modes such as Ultimate Team. Work around with players that contribute to your playstyle and maximize your success.
  • Understand the game’s playstyle – FIFA varies from year to year. Make sure you’re up to date to know which style of play finds the most success.
  • Work with strategies – before a game, you can choose to position players in a certain way and shape on the field – experiment with what works.
  • Read your opponent’s initial plays – within the first minutes of a game you should be able to get a feel for how your opponent likes to pass the ball around and any weaknesses in their strategy. One way to do so is to constantly observe the radar.
  • Understand how the weather can affect the game – distance of sliding and handling of the ball switch up.

Personal and Interpersonal – FIFA Tips and Tricks

As I said, FIFA is a mind-game. Let’s try focus on some FIFA Tips and Tricks which focus on this aspect of the game:

  • FIFA can be a very frustrating game to play at times. Nothing could be going right while sometimes the AI is simply playing up. We recommend that during times like this to either stop playing or to try calm down.
  • Constantly observe the esports scene – it can change from day to day as the meta shifts in this regard
  • Try and find a competitive partner to practice against – experiment with strategies and players to find what works
