Over the past few years, since 2016, the sister titles of Arena of Valor and Honor of Kings have slowly managed to grasp a footing in esports. Indeed, both titles are quite popular and host regular events. Recently, a new announcement has AoV and HoK merging next year!
Coming Together For the First Time – AoV and HoK Merging
Specifically, all of this buzz is for the AoV X Honor of Kings Global World Cup 2022 which is announced for next year.
Over the past two days, both AoV and HoK have announced plans for the next year. Accordingly, both have placed an importance on this exciting event:
And in turn, the following is the announcement from Honor of Kings:
Here’s a short summary for the event:
16 group stage slots – multiple regional tournaments to qualify via a ladder
Regions include Asia, North America, South America, Middle East and Europe
Taking place in October 2022
How is this going to be possible? Well, instead, an ‘esports’ edition of the mobile games will be published, which looks to combine heroes from both AoV and HoK!
Aiming to be fair, balanced and super-exciting, it sounds like a great idea.
Here at esportsguide, we’ve been vocal about the fact that mobile esports is on the rise. Accordingly, we’re constantly questioning which are the top 5 mobile esports out there. Bearing this in mind, feel free to read on to learn our take on this exciting topic!
Before proceeding, let’s discuss the protocol for the ranking. Similar to our Esports Tier Lists, the ‘level/rating’ of an esport is multifactorial. For example, here are some criteria which will help us list the mobile esports today:
Event Proportions – Size of prize pools, number of participants, third and first party organizers, environment and arena capacities Event frequency – is the year bursting with competition or solely reliant on infrequent first-party organizers Competitiveness – the level of competition in an esports scene is related to its livelihood State of the community – health of the lower tier sectors and general condition of the esport as a dynamic entity
With that being said, do note that regardless of the numbers, this is ultimately an opinionated list.
Let’s dive into Number 5!
#5 – Clash Royale
A couple years ago, the mobile game developer of SuperCell literally owned all of mobile gaming. One fruit of this was one of the very first mobile esports in the form of Clash Royale.
Accordingly, let’s take a look at the recent viewership statistics for this strategy game. Note that all viewership details are taken from Esports Charts. Let’s see how the yearly Clash Royale League World Finals has done:
2018 – 361,849 Peak Viewers
2019 – 133,046 Peak Viewers
2020 – 112,578 Peak Viewers
Although slowing down since 2020, the title is still worth placing at fifth on our list.
At this fifth spot we also considered a few other contenders such as CoD Mobile and potentially Wild Rift. However, due to the recent improvements with Brawl Stars, it earned this spot.
#4 – Brawl Stars
Continuing things at number 4 is a mobile esport that we actually do not feature on esportsguide. Indeed, one of the more recent mobile titles from last year – it’s Brawl Stars.
Accordingly, there is an awesome frequency of events in this esport together with some great viewership. Take a look at the viewership statistics for the 2020 iteration of the Brawl Stars World Finals:
Peak Viewers – 258,446
Average Viewers – 134,119
Beyond these great numbers, it’s also simply fun to watch overall. What Brawl Stars needs next is to expand to a global approach.
#3 – Arena of Valor/Kings of Glory – Top 5 Mobile Esports
Entering the ring at third place, we have our very own featured title of Arena of Valor and its Chinese version Kings of Glory. As the only mobile MOBA on the list, the title is incredibly successful at attrcting a tonne of worldwide attention with its massive events.
Here are a few examples of some events together with their viewership figures:
Arena of Valor Premier League 2020 – Peak Viewers 670,768
Arena of Valor International Championship 2020 – Peak Viewers 568,453
2021 Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 – Peak Viewers 550,057
Overall, it’s a very impressive mobile esport due to the size, frequency and gravity of events. In fact, it could easily be in the top 2 were it not for the incredible viewership numbers of the leaders.
#2 – Garena Free Fire
The way competitive Free Fire invaded the esports industry last year was simply mindblowing. Although not being entirely new, last year is when the title starting atracting worldwide attention following some staggering viewership numbers.
Take a look for yourself below:
Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore – 5,414,953 Peak Viewers
Free Fire Continental Series 2020 Asia – 2,556,046 Peak Viewers
2020 Free Fire Continental Series Americas – 1,718.508 Peak Viewers
However, viewership alone doesn’t make an esport. Accordingly, with how relatively young Free Fire is, all it needs to work on now is penetrating the global market better to regions such as North America and Europe.
On the other hand, that’s exactly what our number 1 pick gets right.
#1 – PUBG Mobile – Top 5 Mobile Esports
Yes, we’re certain that some of you guess correctly – PUBG Mobile is our number one mobile esport as of right now. Overall, the esport simply gets everything right.
For one thing, viewership is also awesome, although Free Fire does edge it out slightly:
PMGC Season 0 – 3,801,998 Peak Viewers
PUBG Mobile World League 2020 East – 1,153,865 Peak Viewers
PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 3 2021 SA Finals – 1,117,367 Peak Viewers
Again, what really makes PUBG Mobile stand out is its determination to host regional leagues in an incredible number of countries. For the most part, it’s almost too much to cover!
Together with this incredible number of events all over the world, the major events which follow always hit hard and the competition is great.
Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

In the beginning, there were 16 teams. Heading into the Knockout, 8 remained. At this very point in time, only four remain, primed for the Upper Bracket Finals and Lower Bracket SemiFinals. Take a look at the following bracket below:
Upper Bracket Finals (BO7) – TPE Most Outstanding Player vs TH dtac Talon Esports
Lower Bracket Semifinals (BO7) – TPE MAD Team vs VN Saigon Phantom
In terms of predictions, it’s very tough to say as nobody has looked too dominant across the entire Knockout Stage. However, it’s fair to say that the teams coming from the Upper Bracket have a better chance of winning due to a superior record overall.

As I’ll reiterate, the top 3 teams have earned a seed at the AWC2021 event which we’re also terribly excited for!
To note, it wasn’t always in the favour of Team Flash. Indeed, following a dominant 12-2 performance from Saigon, many put them as the favourites. However, with a strong showing in the bracket, Team Flash blinded the competition with a 4-3 victory over VGaming, bringing us to the Grand Final.
This, this is what stumped the community. It was here that Team Flash literally destroyed Saigon Phantom with a 4-0 sweep unseen before. Just like that, Team Flash walked away with a victory to remember.
Indeed, it’s time to get excited for some competitive Arena of Valor. Following the conclusion of the ongoing spring season, the AoV World Cup 2021 is around the corner. Bearing this in mind, here at esportsguide we’ve gathered all the viewership details. Let’s learn How to Watch!
Event Background
This event has been a long time coming. Sadly, the 2020 iteration of this event had to be cancelled for health reasons. Therefore, there’s a tonne of excitement behind this year’s confirmed event. Announced earlier this April, the event looks to invite teams from around the world.
Specifically, this World Cup will involve countries coming from 8 different countries. Let me list them below:
Chinese Taipei – Most Outstanding Player, ONE Team, MAD Team

Thailand – Bacon Time, TBD
Indonesia – ArchAngel

China – TBD

Format
In terms of format, these 14 teams will be thrown into the gauntlet to sort out the best of the best. Like last time, the event is split into two stages:
Group Stage – June 19-27th – here, two groups of seven will battle it out. A single round robin format will determine our leaders. Indeed, only the top 4 from each group make it to the Playoffs. Here, BO2 series will be played.
Playoffs – July 6-14th – here, a single-elimination bracket will grant us our winner. Accordingly, each match will be BO7 and the global ban pick rule stands.
It’s a simple yet classic format for this World Cup style event.

What an exciting time for competitive Arena of Valor. Bearing this in mind, this will unite the entire competitive scene for this event. Let’s trace back to the 2019 event to see how the competition stacked in the previous iteration of the event:
1st – Vietnam
2nd – Chinese Taipei
3rd – 4th – Vietnam Wildcard, Thailand Wildcard
5th – 8th – China, Chinese Taipei Wildcard, Thailand, North America
9th – 10th – Malaysia, Indonesia
11th – 12th – Japan, Korea
So, it’s clear who the favourites are. From past events and how the community is looking right now, Vietnam, China and Thailand are looking like favourites to take the coveted World Cup.
Do the remaining regions stand a chance? Notably, however, certain teams are still not determined and could make all the difference. Do note that teams will not play under the esports organization names, but that of the region. In the past few months, Japan and Korea have been looking somewhat stronger – perhaps they can make a run here at the World Cup?
Beyond the general predictions for the competition, we also have high expectations for the event. Although being online, viewership needs to be at an all-time high for this event.
The KingProLeague Spring 2021 has been going on for a while. Indeed, kicking off back in March and ending in June, we’re reaching an end. Accordingly, we’ve decided to provide a little update on the event to see how things are faring. Read on for a brief outline!
King Pro League Spring 2021 – Round 2 on May 9th
Initially, the first round concluded on April 18th. Now, with the second round, 3 groups have been playing in a single round robin. With BO5 matches, the seat decider match is the climax of this all. Once the round concludes on May 9th, the top teams will fight in the Seat Decider Match.
So, take a step back and take a look at how the three groups sit for the Round 2 Group Stage below:
Over in Group S, there’s an incredible 2 way tie with eStar Pro and TOP Esports trailing behind AG Super Play. There’s also another tie at 4-5th with Douyu Gaming and Hero Juijing too.
Moving over to Group A, it’s much more decided. Indeed, the bottom two teams will need to put in some work to have a chance to make it anywhere
.
Over in Group B, Vici Gaming has a shot to contest for the Winners’ spot against the current holder of Rogue Warriors.
Competitive Arena of Valor/Kings of Glory has been incredibly lively these past few months. Indeed, with the Tier 1 events underway, there are also lower tier gems spicing up the scene. That’s exactly why we’ve set our eyes on the AoV Star League Spring 2021 event. Read on to learn why and how to watch this event!
Event Background
As I’ll reiterate, the AoV Spring League 2021 event is a Tier 2 event for Arena of Valor (the regional version of Kings of Glory). Organized by Garena Indonesia, the event will be held across both Online and Offline platforms as we’ll confirm further on.
What makes this event special? Kicking off right as soon as the regular season finishes – where 6 teams have battled it out after 10 rounds, it will all play out in the weekend of 29th April. Specifically, only the top 4 will progress to this Grand Finals weekend.
What exactly are the teams competing for? While the majority of the Rp 365,000,000 seems rather fetching, there are also valuable seeds to be earned. The top 3 will earn seeds to the Winter 2021 event, while the bottom 3 will be sent to the ASL B series.
Here are the six teams that have a chance to earn the 4 seeds with the end of the regular season on the 29th:
Dewa United
DG Esports
Saudura e-Sports
ArchAngel
HerzyONE
Hertz
Format
In terms of format, the Finals will encompass a very interesting single-elimination King of the Hill bracket. Furthermore, matches will be BO7 showdowns.
The King of the Hill format will involve, for those unaware, a stepwise approach to revealing a victor. First, third and fourth will play one another. The winner of that will play against second – the winner of that goes up against the first seed for the title. Indeed, this is a high-pressure winner-takes-all format where teams only have one shot.
Schedule for the AoV Star League Spring 2021
So far, we have no other reason to believe that the stream for the Grand Finals will not take place as the previous rounds. Indeed, everyday of the competition has kicked off at 11:00 (CEST) and then gone on for 6 hours.
It has been made clear that this final day of competition will continue like the previous days – as an epic closing chapter.
Watch the AoV Star League Spring 2021
You can also watch the AoV Star League Spring 2021 live stream via our very own website. Providing an extensive list of the biggest esports together with streams for each esports match live today or upcoming matches.
With such a small competition, the competitors are tightly knit and makes for an incredible viewership experience. Of course, right now, no seed for the Finals is confirmed as teams still have a few rounds of regular season to play out.
Regardless, there are still general notions over who the stronger contenders are. Certainly, after DG Esports placed second at the AoV Star League Season 4 last year, they’re been hungry for their chance to rise to the top. Present at the same event, ArchAngel seems less of a threat right now.
Of course, things aren’t looking too hot for teams such as Hertz and HerzyONE, who will likely be the two teams not making it forward.
Otherwise, this King of the Hill format should make for an incredibly fun event with exciting competition!
