Apart from Wolrds each year, the Mid-Season Invitational is one of the top events of the year. Indeed, inviting exclusively the very best teams from each region, it’s an opportunity to witness the top level of competition. Accordingly, read on as we preview the MSI 2022 Group Stage!

MSI 2022 Group Stage – Interesting Groups

Following the completion of multiple regional splits, we have the 11 teams from 11 diferent regions. Drawn into pools, Riot Games generated the following Groups below:

Group A:

  • DetonatioN FocusMe – Japan
  • Saigon Buffalo – Vietnam
  • T1 – Korea
  • Team Aze – Latin America

Group B:

  • Istanbul Wildcats – Turkey
  • PSG Talon – Pacific
  • RED Canids – Brazil
  • Royal Never Give Up – China

Group C:

  • Evil Geniuses – North America
  • G2 Esport – Europe
  • ORDER – Oceania

So, what’s the format? Accordingly, from this first Stage, a double round robin will take place. Indeed, this means that teams will face one another twice in BO1 matches. For every group, only the top 2 progress to the next stage.

Overall, events like this show off how global League of Legends is. Outside the minimum prize pool of $250,000, the main reward here is pride, pride to be the best of the best region!

Amongst a number of announcements concerning the event, the LPL has been affected most.

Specifically, this is due to the health situation regarding the Chinese region. Here are comments from Naz Aletaha, the Global Head of LoL Esports:

Currently, the LPL (our Chinese regional league) is facing ongoing pandemic challenges, and as a result, the league’s MSI representative will be unable to travel to Busan, Korea.

However, after extensive diligence performed by our technology, events, and competitive operations teams, we are able to allow the qualifying LPL team to compete remotely from China.

In terms of competition, Riot Games are doing their best to keep the tables even. Likely competing remotely with a 35ms ping, games should carry on as planned.

Indeed, this is a better alternative to the disqualification of these teams – remember that LPL is one of the top regions for League of Legends!

LCS Spring Finals 2022 Weekend Preview – Three Teams Left

This weekend, there’s a tonne of epioc League of Legends competition. Indeed, apart from other regions, the LCS Spring Finals 2022 will be taking place this weekend. With only three teams left, read on as we preview this exciting weekend!

Heading into this weekend, there’s no surprise as to who’s here. Specifically, we have three of the top LCS organizations in the history of the region.

Furthermore, here are the scheduled games for this weekend:

  • Round 3 – Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses (23rd April)
  • Finals – 100 Thieves vs TBD (24th April)

So, what are our predictions for this event?

First, let’s consult the regular season standings below:

  • #1 – Team Liquid (14-4)
  • #2 – Cloud9 (13-5)
  • #3 – 100 Thieves (12-6)
  • #4 – Evil Geniuses (9-9)

So while 100 Thieves have booked a spot in the final, Team Liquid have the best statistics heading into this event.

However, if we consider head to head statistics, it will likely be a grand final between 100 Thieves and Team Liquid – both of them going 1-1 against one another in the regular season.

Yet, this Spring Finals event has had some surprises – let’s see how many more are left!

DWG KIA Roster 2022 – Nuguri is Back Home

Accordingly, the DWG KIA Roster 2022 has gone through a few changes over the past few months. Regardless, they managed a good run at LCK Spring 2022, but it was below their standard. Indeed, an old face is back, and hopes to bring old success with him!

Of course, we’re referring to the return of Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon. Accordingly, as part of the 2020 World Championship winning roster, the veteran hopes to bring his experience to this roster.

Also, he’s reuniting with former teammates from the World Championship roster.

After some changes, returning to the successful formula could be what they need. Indeed, third place at LCK Spring 2022 is not good enough for this organization.

Indeed, it’s a story of resilience. Heading into the event as the fourth seed from the regular season, they started in the Winners’ bracket. With €200,000 on the line and a seed for MSI, G2 Esports faltered early with a loss to Fnatic.

However, from that point on, they went on an insane Losers’ Bracket run as listed below

Not losing a single map thanks to some phenomenal performances, the tables had turned. However, to win it, they’d need to take down the number one seeds and favourites for the event, Rogue.

Guess what? That’s exactly what they did and once again, not losing a single map.

So, ahead of the Main Competition, a Play-In has been taking place. From this play-in, 4 more teams for the Main Stage would be determined. Accordingly, Vitality.Bee, Bifrost, Karmine Corp and UoL earned a seed!

So, when does the action kick off? The Group Stage kicks off on April 14th. At this point in time, the teams will compete in a double round robin. From here, only the top 2 teams from each group move on to the Playoffs.

Concluding on the 2nd April, the event was a culmination of the entire Spring season.

Accordingly, our predictions for this event were simple. We asked the question – “could anyone beat T1?” Indeed, the answer seems to be clear.

Specifically, from their first seed thanks to a flawless regular season run (18-0), T1 took care of business with each match from the semifinals onwards:

  • T1 vs KDF (3-0)
  • T1 vs Gen.G (3-1)

Although the pressure was on, T1 succeeded to show up. It was in the Grand Final against Gen.G, where the community watched with a peak viewership of 1,374,155, that T1 cemented their spot.

By playing first, they’ve earned their spot at the MSI 2022 event.

Taking place in May, T1 are likely to be considered favourites for this international event bearing in mind their dominant form recently. It seems that rebuilding their roster for this season truly paid off.

With many regional LoL leagues boiling down to regional finals, the community is buzzing with excitement. Indeed, what’s more is that the 2022 LEC Spring Split Finals will be held offline and with a live crowd! Read on as we discuss the matter.

Accordingly, it’s been a few years since the LEC has enjoyed fans live at events!

The news of a live crowd was confirmed earlier this week with a press release from Riot Games. Indeed, here’s a snippet below:

While we are closely monitoring the ongoing pandemic, we are finally confident that we can ensure a safe environment for our fans to celebrate the Spring 2022 Finals in a one-off event.

In order to ensure the highest safety, we are limiting the number of attendees, and fans will be required to adhere to regulations in place at the venue, which can be found in the event information on the ticketing platform.

Although not returning at full capacity, it’s a great step to normality.

Indeed, to seed for the Mid-Seasonal Invitational, regions are competing in Split Playoffs. However, the 2022 LPL Spring Split Playoffs have a problem. Bearing this in mind, they’ll have to delay – read on to learn more!

2022 LPL Spring Split Playoffs – Due to Health Reasons

Accordingly, due to the health situation in the region, the LoL event will have to backtrack for a couple weeks as announced on Twitter:

For those unaware, the LPL Spring 2022 Playoffs have already kicked off for a matches. Specifically, only six teams remain, as seeded below:

Round of 7 (BO5)

  • LNG Esports vs Top Esports
  • JD Gaming vs Weibo Gaming

Upper Bracket R1 (BO5)

  • Victory Five vs LNG/Top
  • Royal Never Give Up vs JD/Weibo

Note that as this is a double elimination bracket, all teams have the opportunity to suffer one loss before the Grand Final.

Remember what’s on the line – specifically, three seeds are said to be up for grabs for the Mid-Seasonal Invitational later on this year.
