To do so, teams will first have to fight through a Group Stage, where teams have been split into two groups of six as follows:

Play-In Groups:

  • A – Beyond Gaming, Chiefs Esports Club, DetonatioN FocusMe, Evil Geniuses, Fnatic, LOUD
  • B – DRX, Istanbul Wildcats, Isurus, MAD Lions, Royal Never Give Up, Saigon Buffalo

Here, teams will compete through a single round robin, facing each other once, in short BO1 matches. From here, only the top team from each group will advance to the Main Event, collecting two out of the four seeds.

Meanwhile, 2-4th from each group progress to the Knockout Stage of the Play-In. Here, 3rd place teams face 4th place teams to then take on the 2nd place teams to earn the final two Main Event seeds. Note that here, with higher stakes, matches are best of five.

With the four seeds for Main Event decided, they join the other 12 teams as soon as 7th October. After a short pause, the competition will continue with another Group Stage, consisting of the higher seed teams and the four teams from the Play-In – split into four groups of four as follows:

Main Event Groups:

  • B – JD Gaming, G2 Esports, DWG KIA, TBD
  • C – Rogue, Top Esports, GAM Esports, TBD
  • D – Gen.G, CTBC Flying Oyster, 100 Thieves, TBD

Within these groups, a double round robin (teams face each other twice), will take place. After all of the BO1 matches, only the top 2 teams will progress to the Knockout Stage.

Once in the Knockout Stage of the Main Event,, a single elimination bracket with random seeding will determine a new world champion – BO5 matches throughout.

The International Prize Pool 2022 – Reaching $10,000,000

Building up to the largest event of the year, The International Prize Pool 2022 is on everyone’s mind. Accordingly, as Valve embraces crowd-funding once again, the race to break records is back – let’s tune in to see how it’s proceeding below!

So, as of writing this article, the prize pool split is as follows:

  • Base Prize Pool: $1,600,000
  • Contributed Prize Pool: $7,449,465
  • Total Prize Pool: $9,049,465

Clearly, $10,000,000 is right around the corner as players continue to purchase the Dota Pro Battle Pass available in game now.

However, while this may appear like a large amount, it’s trailing behind previous years.

Currently, after 3 days, the sales sit behind both The International 2021 and The International 2019. Both had already reached $10,000,000 by now.

The International

Naturally, the end goal for this year is to improve over last year and the years before. Here are the final totals for comparison:

  • TI 2021 – $40,018,195
  • TI 2019 – $34,330,068
  • The International 2018 – $25,532,177

So is there a world where this year fails to break the record? Although the event has always improved every year, the likes of $40,000,000 is definitely a challenge. We can’t wait to see how it all ends.

T1 LoL Roster 2022 – Polt Leaves Coach Position

Despite an impressive season, the T1 LoL Roster 2022 has suffered quite a bit of criticism. Accordingly, multiple second place finishes have frustrated this team – bearing this in mind, a change in staff just went through. Read on to learn more about this change!

T1 LoL Roster 2022 – Signing an Interim Coach

Credits: T1 Twitter

Does a team necessarily need to make a change with the following record:

  • 2nd @ LCK Summer 2022
  • 2nd @ Mid-Season Invitational 2022
  • 1st @ LCK Spring 2022

Accordingly, while it doesn’t seem so, changes have been made. Specifically, the 3-0 sweep in the LCK Summer 2022 Grand Finals has caused quite a bit of pressure to fall on this team.

Over the past day, it was announced that the head coach Choi “Polt” Seong-hun has been let go of. In his stead, the likes of Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong will be replacing.

For those unaware, the replacement is a three times World Champion, having represented T1 in the past.

Think of it as you may, this attitude is what has made T1 so impressive. Indeed, it’s this desire to be perfect which makes them a top 3 favourite for Worlds 2022.

LEC Summer Split 2022 – Fnatic Heading to Worlds

Indeed, while many regions of LoL are concluding competition, LEC is still neck deep. Specifically, the LEC Summer Split 2022 Playoffs are still underway. With teams earning seeds, read on to learn about Fnatic’s journey!

LEC Summer Split 2022 – More Competition Left

Credits: Fnatic Twitter

Kicking off back on 26th August, the top 6 teams from the LEC reached the Playoffs. This featured the following teams:

  • Excel
  • Fnatic
  • G2 Esports
  • MAD Lions
  • Misfits Gaming
  • Rogue

The stakes of the competition are very clear – only the top 4 make it to Worlds. Specifically, the top 2 straight to the Main Event while 3-4 go to the Play-In.

Bearing this in mind, the odds for Fnatic were rather low considering they were the fifth seed heading into this competition. Starting in the lower bracket, they kicked off the competition with an edging victory of 3-2 over Excel.

LoL Worlds 2021

Moving on, they’d face Misfits to earn Top 4.

With the match taking place yesterday, the community expected a tight game. However, Fnatic decided to sweep the competition and earn a place at Worlds 2022.

Yet, we’re all curious to see how far they can go – perhaps even deeper?

LCS Championship 2022 – Evil Geniuses Eliminate TSM

Currently, the LCS Championship is sorting out who from North America will make it to Worlds 2022. Accordingly, only four teams are left in the competition – read on as we discuss Evil Geniuses on their journey below!

LCS Championship 2022 – Moving Deeper

Credits: LCS Twitter

So far, it’s been rather disappointing for Evil Geniuses. Heading into the event as the favourite and the number one seed from LCS Summer, they have fallen short.

Specifically, seeded into Round 2, they matched off against Cloud9 and lost.

Due to this loss, they fell to the Lower Bracket. Here, they took care of business in an incredibly tight series against the likes of TSM. Riddled with technical pauses and delays, the epic series went in the way of EG finally.

Credits: LCS Twitter

Bearing that in mind, EG now sit in Round 3 of the Lower Bracket, destined to face Team Liquid on 4th September. Winning here would mean earning a place at the Worlds 2022 seed – third place goes to the Play-In.

Otherwise, as the first seed, they’re hoping to earn at least a Main Event seed. However, the competition seems to be tougher than ever recently.
