Wildcard Gaming return to PUBG – Who did they pick up?

As stated above, Wildcard Gaming have signed on the Ascendance Esports squad. This team consists of: Zrayven “Zrayven” Rahman, Gabriel “Maji” Elliott, Kory “TsoK” Verschoore, Jacob “Zealot” Klessig, and as their substitute, Beck “Beck” Crawford. The team itself is pretty new. Having 2 of its latest members, Tsok, and Zealot, joining the other three last April. This is what Ben Merritt, COO at Wildcard Gaming, said about the deal:

“Wildcard has always excelled at finding talent and through our internal systems and culture helped players develop into great players.  We are excited to bring in the Ascendance roster as they are a new team with younger players and we feel they have the ability to grow into one of the region’s top teams.  Ownership and Investors of Wildcard have always been massive fans of PUBG and we are excited to be back in the game that the organization grew with for over three years.”

TSM Departing from PUBG

TSM have announced that they are departing from the European PUBG scene. Here is their announcement:

TSM Departing from PUBG – Why?

TSM have chosen not to disclose the main reason for their departure from the esport. However, if we take a quick look at their recent results, we’ll come to realize that they do not fit the organization’s standards.

In the biggest event of 2021, the PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021, the team only managed to place 27th, a very big disappointment for the team overall. Even though the team was somewhat successful in 2020, it just wasn’t the dominant force it once was.

Here are TSM’s best achievements in PUBG

  • 7th in PUBG Global Championship 2019 – 24th November 2019 – $80,000
  • 1st at PUBG Continental Series 1 Europe – 5th July 2020 – $65,875
  • 3rd in PUBG Europe League 2019 Phase 3 – 6th October 2019 – $55,000

What’s next?

From their announcement, TSM do not mention what is planned for the org’s future with the esport. TSM has been involved with PUBG esports since 2017 and it would be a real shame if this is TSM’s last ride in PUBG. With that being said, we’ll just have to wait and see what will happen, and if TSM decide to return at some point in the future.

Meta Gaming moving away from competitive PUBG

Meta Gaming have just revealed that they are moving away from the competitive PUBG scene. Here is their announcement:

Meta Gaming moving away from competitive PUBG – Why?

In their announcement, Meta Gaming do not disclose the main reason for their decision to move away from Competitive PUBG. However, they do mention that in this temporary break away from the game, they will be watching and reviewing the new PUBG format. If they see that PUBG is something that is very attractive for them as a team and org, they will probably opt back in.

Community Reaction

The community’s main reaction when they saw this news was obviously sad. With Meta Gaming being such a dominant team in LATAM last year, and continued to show their great performances in 2021, it’s very sad to see them depart.

Here are some of their best achievements so far:

  • 7th in PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 – 28th March 2021 – $389,359
  • 15th in PUBG Global Championship 2019 – 24th November 2019 – $24,000
  • 1st at GLL Wingman IX PRO Americas – 8th December 2019 – $20,000

Hopefully the new format is appealing for the organization and they return to the PUBG atmosphere in no time.

What’s next?

Thailand Open will take place next week, whereas the Continental S4 APAC event will play out between the 10th and 25th of June.

PUBG 2 Rumours – General Thoughts

In the past decade, many accredit PUBG as the beginning of the craze for competitive battle royale. Furthermore, recent rumours of PUBG 2 has us thinking. Accordingly, we invite you to read on as we try to dissect all of the rumours while adding our own thoughts.

PUBG 2 – Realistic Shooter?

The entire leak is based on recent tweets from profiles such as PlayerIGN below:

Credits: PlayerIGN Twitter

Currently, titles such as PUBG Undawn and mobile title of PUBG: New State are all underway. However, this looks to be an official PUBG sequel.

Supposedly fielded by developer Krafton, there are a few key points with regards to the realism. Indeed, it seems that the developer has taken a note from the current domination of Warzone in its respective setting.

Wish List for the Sequel

Credits PUBG Corporation
Credits: PUBG Corporation
  • Primarily – to not lose the charm and identity of PUBG. Indeed, while upscaling graphics is great, we hope it isn’t done to an extent where it takes away from the charm of PUBG
  • Compatibility with PUBG Mobile. An official sequel could allow for crossplay with PUBG Mobile which could be insane
  • Focusing on producing a good console port – the original PUBG on console was quite frankly, a very poor experience. They’ll want to focus on delivering a proper game here.
  • New and innovative competitive features.
