PUBG Off-Season Roster Shuffles

As you may have seen recently, with the PUBG off-season we are seeing a lot of roster shuffles. In this article we’ll be covering a vast majority of them. Read on to know more:

Korean roster changes

We saw most of the changes in the South Korean scene. Here, T1 have made a couple of drastic changes, as we have covered on our site. They’ve parted ways with Head Coach Toad, and players Starlord and Adder. In replacement, they’ve added rookie player Bean, and Hulk to the main lineup. Some other changes that were made came out of team Griffin as they benched 2tap and Asura to welcome Foxy on the main squad. In result of this, Gen.G have acquired Asura to represent them in the upcoming PUBG events.

Japanese changes

In Japan we didn’t have many changes, but one that caught the eye was that CAG (CYCLOPS athlete gaming) have decided to part ways with EveRy and Sabrac.

Chinese team changes

Some big changes are coming to the Chinese PUBG scene, as popular Chinese organization Tyloo has invested and re-acquired a solid roster for the upcoming season. They have brought on the team that used to play for Triumphant Song Gaming and are looking to grab that PCL trophy soon!

PUBG Off-Season Roster Shuffles – European updates

In Europe we’ve also got a few roster acquirements. Tempus have formed a new lineup with Himannen, TomiL, NIXZYEE and Wookiebookie. Whereas Acend have acquired a Russian core team, formerly representing Raise Your Edge Gaming.

The off-season is still on-going so we can expect a couple of more changes before the season returns to its normal schedule. Be sure to never miss out on any roster moves by keeping yourself notified on www.esportsguide.com for more esports news!

Following the incredibly successful PUBG Invitational.S, the scene is keeping the heat turned on with more events. Namely, the PUBG Champions League 2021 Spring is an awesome follow-up. Event Background

Indeed, kicking off next week, the event starts on the 13th April with an end date of 23rd May. Held at the VSPN Studio in Shanghai, this is a celebration of the Chinese region and its relationship with competitive PUBG. Bearing this in mind, the invited teas hail mainly from seeds acquired at the Fall 2020 event and the recent Preseason Spring event.

Here they are, all 24 of them:

  • Four Angry Men
  • Multi Circle Gaming
  • Newhappy
  • Infantry
  • Petrichor Road
  • Tianba
  • JUFU
  • 17 Gaming
  • KaiXin Esports
  • 2004STAR
  • NEXT
  • Lao Yue Gou
  • My Queen
  • QM Gaming
  • TYLOO
  • TIGER
  • DD Team
  • J Team
  • Games Forever Young
  • Senior Challenge Club
  • Champion of Competition
  • TITAN
  • LinGan e-Sports
  • Change the Game

Besides a hefty prize pool, there are multiple seeds up at stake. Namely, the top 6 enjoy a pass to the PCS 4 Asia, with the entire top 21 booking an appointment at the 2021 PCL Summer event. Meanwhile, the top 3 are still provided an opportunity to redeem themselves at the 2021 PCL Summer Preseason.

Format

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of competitive PUBG, that’s for certain. Now, moving on to format there’s a lot to describe and we’ll do so as concisely as possible, though it’s mostly familiar if you’ve been paying attention to recent PUBG and PUBG Mobile events:

  • Weekly Series: April 13th – May 16th.
    • Weekly Stage – 6 games daily across three days (Tue-Thu) with games played within 3 separate groups. Here, only the top 16 make it to the next stage, being the Weekly Final
    • Weekly Final – 12 matches to make an awesome Saturday and Sunday

  • Playoff – May 19-23rd – based on performances and points earned mainly from the Weekly Final, 30 matches will take place over 5 days with the top 16 fighting for the big prize.

Also, there’s this new ‘MOST CHICKEN RULE’ which looks to spice things up too.

It’s highly likely that a team seeded from the Fall 2020 event will come out on top, with no disrespect meant to the pre-season teams who had to fight harder to qualify.

Bearing this mind, I’ll refresh our memory with the standings from the event. Here are the top 6 from back then:

  1. Four Angry Men
  2. Multi Circle Gaming
  3. Newhappy
  4. Infantry
  5. Petrichor Road
  6. Tianba

Undoubtedly, Four Angry are a top contender both regionally and on an international level too – placing 4th at the PUBG Global Invitational.S recently also.

Notably, placing 5th at the PUBG Global Invitational.S is none other than Multi Circle Gaming, who might be getting somewhat annoyed at 4AM’s constant dominance at the top.

Beyond those two, Infantry may also have a good chance as besides a top 4 at the Fall 2020 event, they claimed the 8th spot at again, the PGIS recently.

Otherwise, the nature of battle royale esports remains – it’s never over until it’s over.

T1 Welcoming Bean for their PUBG Roster

Popular organization T1 have announced that they are welcoming back talented player Bean for their PUBG Roster. Here is their announcement:

T1 Welcoming Bean for their PUBG Roster – Why?

As you may have seen recently, T1 did not have the best showing in the PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021. The squad only managed to achieve a 20th place in the tournament, grabbing only $59,072 from the $7,056,789 prize pool. They started the event with promising performances but they were struggling all-throughout after that.

What happened?

This addition comes after the drastic roster change that was introduced a week ago. This change featured 2 of T1’s players and their head coach departing the team. The team had loads of great results in previous months, but in the last few tournaments, the team wasn’t in its best shape.

With these changes, the current T1 roster for PUBG looks like this:

  • Yoo ”Aqua5” Sang-ho
  • Kim “Daengchae” Do-Hyun
  • Oh “BeaN” Won-bin

It will be very interesting to see who T1 picks up next for their PUBG team. Although, it’s great to see that they’re giving opportunities to up and coming rookies such as BeaN.

PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 – Soniqs Crowned Champions!

What an event! Indeed, with 32 of the best PUBG teams in the world competing for $7.000.000 what else did we expect? Naturally, we’re referring to the PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 which wrapped up a few days ago. As Susquehanna Sonqis walk away champions – here’s a recap!

PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 – A Nail-Biter in the Standings

Overall, the event was entirely a three horse race at the end of it – Soniqs Zenith and Gen.G were all clawing for dominance throughout the weeks of earning prize money. Do note that earnings were accumulated at several stages, though the Weekly Finals is where teams made their claim for the prize.

Here’s how the prize pool was split for the six weeks of exciting competition:

The phrase ‘it’s not how you start, but how you finish’ has never been more relevant. Do note how the prize for first place doubles at times from week to week. Teams earned their spot to compete at the Weekly Finals each week – lets focus on Soniqs’ timeline.

No, Soniqs weren’t the most dominant team this event. Accordingly, they missed out on competing in Weeks 2 and 3 and placed 11th in the first Weekly Finals. However, they really ramped things up when it mattered in the final three weeks. Accordingly, the team landed two consecutive 7th place finishes for Weeks 4 and 5 – not really sitting on anyone’s radar.

Then it happened – the former leaders of Zenith and Gen.G were overthrown by Soniqs thanks to an astonishing first place finish in Week 6 – landing the $500,000. And just like that, they inched out Zenith thanks to a first place and multiple second place finishes in the Week 6 rounds.

Viewership Stats via Esports Charts

Credits: PUBG Esports Twitter
  • Peak Viewers -221, 903
  • Hours Watched – 25,930,345
  • Average Viewers – 118,811

Bearing in mind how long the event ran for and the current state of PUBG, these statistics are good but nothing outrageous. Bearing in mind the size of the prize pool and the fact that this is the highest level of competition, perhaps viewership could be better especially when compared to sister esport PUBG Mobile.

We’re excited to see what’s up next for PUBG – we hope you appreciated that very short recap!

PUBG Season 11 Details – New Map and In-Game Mechanics!

Four years since its launch, PUBG has come a long way in both the community and competitive sense. Indeed, now the community is gearing up for an upcoming season of new content in PUBG Season 11. Don’t worry, we’ve got all the details starting with patch 11.1!

List of New Features for PUBG Season 11

  • New Map – Paramo
Credits: PUBG Twitter

Well technically, this isn’t a new map. Removed from the rotation a while back, the classic map is being brought back to Normal and Custom matches. In the meantime, Karakin and Haven are leaving.

Is it exactly the same map? Not precisely, with improved terrain, new pieces of cover, increased item spawn rates and the classic randomized elements the map is known for. From now on, PUBG Corp plan on cycling maps more efficiently.

  • New Feature – Emergency Pickup

While I doubt this will be featured in competitive play, it’s definitely exciting. By deploying an Emergency Pickup, up to 4 players in a team lagging behind can attach to this Fulton Balloon Rope which gets caught onto a plane. The plane then drags the number of players to the centre of the Safe Zone.

In addition, any time across this flight, players can jump out.

This ‘Emergency Pickup’ will be a lootable item and looks like a lot of fun – found on Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi.

  • Quality of Life – Match Log introducted

Beyond those major changes, a few weaponry tweaks are on the way also – you can check out the full breakdown here.

There’s so much going on at the event right now, that it’s almost difficult to keep track. As of right now, the competition is heading into Week 2 of the Weekly Finals as the top 16 fight to be part of the Weekly Survival competition.

As you can see, the competition right now heavily leans in the favour of Four Angry Men, leading with a pronounced scoreline.

However, the competition is far from over, as we can expect a few more weeks of gameplay. Here, things can certainly change up and we could have a different leader by the end of it. Regardless, the other teams have a lot of catching up to do.

Heroic acquired by Omaken

Popular Danish CS:GO team Heroic has just announced that they’ve been acquired by Norwegian organisation Omaken. Here is their announcement:

Heroic acquired by Omaken – Who and what is Omaken?

Omaken Sports, prior to the partnership, was a PUBG roster consisting of a British player and 2 Finnish players. The team had some pretty good results in 2020. Most notably, a 2nd place at Global Loot League Season 4 and a 4th in PUBG Continental Series 1: Europe.

What will the partnership consist of?

Previously, Heroic was just a CS:GO team filled with Danish players that were waiting to get picked up by another serious organisation. However, following their incredible success in 2020, Omaken saw this as an opportunity to pair up with the Danes and create a world leading esports organization.

Heroic CS:GO team captain Casper “cadiaN” Møller said the following:

“I am super excited about our new future. With Omaken acquiring Heroic, we will have some really strong investors in the project that are hungry to develop us and the esports scene. The vision of a Scandinavian power house is super exciting to be a part of, and to be part of it from the start is something me and my teammates are incredibly proud of. I think this is a big applause to the work the organization and team has done throughout the last years. We are not aiming at mediocrity.”

Heroic / Omaken’s next plans is to start signing talented individuals and teams in popular esport titles. Some also hinted at Rocket League or VALORANT being the first.

This is such great news and we can’t wait to see what their future plans are. But be sure to keep yourself notified whenever they announce them as we will be covering all the news, here on www.esportsguide.com!
