Earlier today, Rocket League pro AtomiK announced that he is returning to the starting roster of Team Queso. Here is his announcement:
Atomik returning to Team Queso – Who is he?
Sergio “AtomiK” Pérez Cortés is a 16-year-old Rocket League talent from Spain. He started his career in 2019 with Mav3ricks eSports, and after a few months went on to play for NPK. It wasn’t until the very late stages of 2020 until he got his first shot with the Queso lineup. With this team he has truly showcased his abilities and impressed the world. However, for some reason it was announced that he was benched on the 3rd of July, but I guess now he’s back? Very interesting decisions from the Queso management, but we’ll see how it goes in their upcoming competitions.
Here are some of his best achievements with Team Queso:
3rd/4th in RLCS X EU Championship – 17th June 2021 – $52,000
2nd in RLCS X Winter EU Regional Event 2 – 6th December 2020 – $15,000
What’s next?
Along with the announcement, AtomiK states that they’ve got more news coming soon. He does not hint at what this ‘news’ could be, but since it’s soon, be sure to keep an eye out on his, and Team Queso’s twitter.

According to Rocket League Esports news source Shift, Firstkiller is joining G2 Esports as part of their Rocket League division. Here’s everything you need to know:
Firstkiller reportedly joining G2 Esports – Who is he?
Jason “Firstkiller” Corral is a 16-year-old Rocket League player from the United States. He started his esports career in 2017 with Upper 90 Esports, and made his first move to the Ghost Gaming lineup in 2020. Unfortunately this was only temporary, as 9 days later it was announced that he will be Rogue’s newest addition to their squad. There he paired up with legendary player Kronovi, and Wonder. Unfortunately those 2 players didn’t stay for too long, and now Rogue have got a revamped roster.
Here are some of his best achievements in Rocket League Esports:
5th in RLCS X North American Championship – 16th June 2021 – $32,000
1st in RLCS X Spring: Verizon 5G Ultra Cup NA Regional Event 1 – 21st March 2021 – $30,000
1st at RLCS X North American Regional Winter Event 3 – 31st January 2021 – $30,000
Community Reaction
Obviously the community was amazed that such a move could take place. As it stands, G2 have 2 players in the RLCS X NA top performing players of the season. With this addition, they will have 3 of the top 4, which goes without saying that this squad is going to be legendary.
Team Singularity have just revealed that they are disbanding their Rocket League division. Here is everything you need to know:
Team Singularity Disbanding Rocket League Division – Why?
In their announcement, Singularity did not clarify the main reason for this disband. However, they have made it public that due to the offseason rostermania, they’ve straight up announced their departure to let their former players get the initial opportunities. These are the members that Singularity are parting ways with:
This is what Team Singularity Founder & CEO, Atle S. Stehouwer said about the news:
“I will miss the boys tremendously and want to thank them for all the time we’ve spent together under the green SNG banner. I’m confident that the players will find great homes for the future, and I hope that our paths may cross each other again! Take care mates; it’s been a pleasure having you here and best of luck in the future!”
However, this change does not mean that Singularity is departing from Rocket League Esports entirely. Along with this statement, they revealed that at some point closer to the upcoming season, they will be revealing their newest roster. This team will be coached by current coach Mark “Markydooda” Exton and managed by Jonas “vel” Schaffrick. So be sure to stay tuned for more updates on this squad!
For reasons known, the legendary Olympics had to be postponed last year to this year. Accordingly, the event leading up to the Olympics, the Intel World Open Regional Finals, were also moved. Now, the event is only a few days away and is a buzzing national competition of Rocket League and Street Fighter V.
Read on to learn How to Watch the Rocket League event!
Event Background
With regards to Rocket League, Intel is throwing $250,000 on the line between four main regions. For each region, the 3 player teams will all be hailing from separate nations, representing their country. Furthermore, the prize pool and number of countries varies for each region.
Namely, the four regions are Americas, EMEA, Asia Mainland and Asia Maritime & Oceania. Below, find a list of facts for all four regions:
Americas – $80,000 – 13 to 14th July – Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, USA, Uruguay, Puerto Rico
EMEA – $80,000 – 13 to 14th July – South Africa, Czech Republic, Norway, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, France, Germany
Asia – $45,000 – 11 to 12th July – Japan, Singapore A, Singapore B, Malaysia
AMO – $45,000 – 11 to 12th July – Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia A, Indonesia B
While not exactly a ‘World Cup’, it’s quite close to being one.
Format
Indeed, the format will differ slightly between the 4 and 8 team events.
Starting with the 8 team format, there will be two main stages of play:
Group Stage – from 2 groups of 4, only 4 will advance to the Playoffs. Groups will be played out in BO5 matches in a Round Robin style. Do note that tiebreakers will be resolved by differential and Head to Head.
Playoffs – the final 4 teams will be thrown into a bracket to determine a winner
The 4 team events are simply similar, just on a smaller scale.
Schedule for the Intel World Open Regional Finals
As of right now, the schedules for all regions are not available, though we recommend to keep up to date with the official page. Beyond that, find the entire schedule in the following tweet:

So, let’s discuss our predictions for each region.
EMEA – France as winners, England as contenders
Indeed, I am basing this prediction on the recent RCLS Season X European Championship performances. Here, out of all the teams, Team Vitality rose to success. As you can guess, this team offered a French roster, the same roster which will now be competing for the Intel World Open.
Secondly, I would list the UK as perhaps a contender to place second in the groups. Again, the players on this team all hail from Guild Esports, placing fifth at the RCLS Seaosn X event.
Notably, if Spain were to compete, I would list them here.
Americas – USA as winners, Argentina as contenders
Moving over to Americas, it’s difficult to not place USA as your favourites. While not all players hail from the same team, the best 3 players have been picked – noting that the US dominated the North American RCLS Season X Championship. Otherwise, Argentina could hold their ground as South American champions and clinch a second in Groups.
Asia Maritime – Australia as winners
Asia Mainland – with no official regional competition prior to this event, it’s impossible to predict who’ll come out on top.
Formula 1 Racing Team Williams are announcing their entry into Rocket League Esports. Here below is their announcement:
Williams announcing entry to Rocket League – What do we know?
As stated in their announcement, Williams will be partnering up with Resolve. If you don’t know who they are, Resolve is a UK-based esports org founded in 2015. They began as a Discord community, providing esports coaching and support for those battling video game addiction and escapism. However, in 2020 they’ve expanded onto esports, and has built teams in both North America and Europe. At the moment they field 3 teams in League of Legends, the main team, an academy team, and a female team. Now with this partnership, they will be entering Rocket League alongside Williams.
Here’s what Tim Hunt, Chief Marketing Officer at Williams Racing, said about the news:
“Rocket League has been a topic of discussion around the team for a while now; our people play it; their kids play it – it’s huge. Regardless of whether it’s on track or off it, Williams Racing has an imperative to race and compete, and this is what we’ll be doing with Resolve as we enter the Rocket League Championship Series Season XI. This partnership is incredibly exciting; Resolve have made an impressive start to life as a competitive esports team and we’re looking forward to being a part of that as we continue to take on the world of esports and expand our audience beyond racing”.
Former Rocket League pro player Rizzo, and G2 Esports have announced that they are officially parting ways. Here’s their announcement:
Rizzo and G2 Esports officially parting ways – What happened?
A few weeks back we wrote a piece about Rizzo stepping down from the main G2 EsportsRocket League lineup. To reiterate, he decided to step down due to loss of motivation towards competing. Because of his change, G2 Esports opted to bring on Andres “dreaz” Jordan to the main squad.
He joined the team as a temporary stand-in to aid the team in their upcoming matches in RLCS X. With his help, the team finished in 3rd/4th place in the RLCS X North American Championship. Unfortunately we do not know if he’ll be a permanent fit for the team, but we can expect an announcement soon.
What’s next for Rizzo?
While competition will be avoided by Rizzo, the option to coach a team in NA is certainly on the table. If you’ve been around the Rocket League competitive scene you know that Rizzo is one of the most experienced players around. With his talent, experience, and connections, he could certainly step-in and go for the coaching role in the near future. If that’s also off the charts, Rizzo’s got a great community on his twitch stream. He is a great entertainer and could certainly make a living out of it if he decides to stay on that path.
This weekend we had The General NRG win the NA RLCS X Championship. They took down some of the best in their region to be crowned champions. This is how it went:
Final Standings + Winnings:
1st – $160,000 – The General NRG
2nd – $80,000 – Spacestation Gaming
3rd-4th – $52,000 – Team Envy
3rd-4th – $52,000 – G2 Esports
5th – $32,000 – Rogue
6th – $24,000 – FaZe Clan
The General NRG win NA RLCS X Championship – How did they do it?
NRG started the tournament in the Semifinals due to their very high placement in the NA RLCS X Rankings. In fact, they finished first in the North American leaderboard, with a total of 4645 points!
Semifinals
Their first match was against G2 Esports, a team which had come from 2 big wins against FaZe Clan, and Rogue. NRG won the first series 4-3, G2 replied with a win of their own (4-2) and to finalize it all, NRG concluded with a 4-2 win. This victory meant that G2 were eliminated and that NRG confirmed their spot in the Grand Finals.
Over on the upper side of the bracket was Space Station Gaming, which had just taken down Team Envy. This was a major upset as Team Envy had been performing incredibly well all season.
Grand Finals
Heading into the Grand Finals, NRG were already very positive, as they knew that they didn’t have to go through a rough battle against Team Envy. NRG’s first series was very strong, winning the first two games, losing the next two, and again, winning the final two. However the final series was much more dominant. NRG won the first 2 games, lost the third game 2-1, and then closed it out with 2 straight wins. Here’s how NRG got their win:
Team Vitality win EU RLCS X Championship – How did they do it?
Due to their very high RLCS X Ranking, Team Vitality were already placed into the Semifinals of the event. Team BDS were also given this advantage as they placed first in the RLCS X Rankings.
Semifinals
Team Vitality first met against Top Blokes in the Best of 3, best of 7. Here, they started out strong, winning 1-0 and 4-2 in the initial games. Then, Top Blokes replied with 2 of their own. Unfortunately what followed were 2 great games by the French squad, as they won the first series against the Blokes.
In the second series, Team Vitality seemed unstoppable, winning the first 3 games in a row, and only losing once to Top Blokes, before finalizing the entire series. With this series win, Vitality confirmed their spot in the grand finals.
Grand Finals
Meanwhile, Team BDS were also having some solid games of their own. Winning 4-0 and 4-2 against the Spanish team Queso. This meant that Team Vitality were tasked with taking down one of their main rivals, Team BDS in the grand finals of the RLCS X season. The first series was a dominant show by the Frenchmen as they won 4 games in a row. Then in the second series, Team BDS showed a bit more strength from their side, winning the first 2 games. However once again, Vitality won 4 straight games in a row, to be crowned champions. This is how it ended:

Much like the North American Championship, every single team that is taking part in this event managed to get a spot due to their high placement in their regional RLCS X rankings. Each of these 6 teams has the ability to take the win there in the final event of Season X. Every team has shown that they have what it takes to take it home and defeat each team in their way. However it will all go down to the most consistent team of all. And for that we’d probably have to put our confidence on Team BDS. Not only are they slotted into the Semifinals already, but they’ve shown time and time again that they’re the most consistent and potentially the best team in Europe.

This is going to be the biggest and most action packed Rocket League event to ever happen in the North American region. With so many talented teams taking part it’s very hard to just pick out one team out of the pack and say that they’re going to win it for sure. With how this format is, Team Envy and The GeneralNRG have a much bigger advantage than the other teams. But this doesn’t mean they are certain to win the tournament. We’ve seen upsets happen time and time again, and we’d definitely expect it from teams like Spacestation Gaming, Rogue, G2 Esports, and FaZe Clan. In the end, we’ll just have to see how it all plays out!
