Simply mind-numbing! The CDL Stage II Major this past week is one of the most phenomenal events in the history of competitive Call of Duty. Indeed, as a fan of the scene, it was incredible to view the 12 teams fight over the $500,000 once again – read on for a quick recap!
CDL Stage II Major – Toronto Ultra Make History
Toronto Ultra are your champions and their journey to this point is phenomenal. Nobody, not even us, could predict their victory, with only 9 votes on a Twitter poll by the CDL actually going in their favour.
Let’s observe the journey of these brilliant players:
- Starting in winners, they took down OpTic Chicago in dominant fashion
- In the next round, they lost to Atlanta FaZe, falling to the Loser’s Bracket
- Here, they take down LAT, ROKKR, and Dallas to get to the grand finals
Accordingly, it was at the grand final, with a BO9 format, that a legendary series took place. Indeed, a back and forth battle between themselves and favourites FaZe. Overall, Ultra managed to dominate and snag a victory nobody could see coming.
Besides an incredible win, other moments such as ROKKR beating OpTic are forever stapled into history as insane and unique moments for the competitive scene. Notably, in terms of history, Toronto Ultra is only the second-ever all-European roster to win an event!
Here’s how the current standings look for the regular season:
Overall, Stage II has been incredible. In all aspects, the competition has grown and our leaderboards are more complex then ever. We can’t wait for the rest of the season.
