The massive update of 7.26 for Dota 2 has received a mixed reception from the casual and competitive community. While others invite the changes to the overall flow of the game, others counter this argument by vowing that strategy is lessening. Valve, agreeing with the latter, has decided to slow things down just a touch, perhaps to experiment, in their new patch of 7.26a. Below we’ve rounded up all of the essentials.
Patch 7.26a, like its predecessor, focuses a lot of attention on items, mainly to slow things down by addressing the following:
- Power Treads
- Boots of Speed
- Arcane Boots
- Phase Boots
- Tranquil Boots
- Guardian Greaves
And many more. For all of them, instead of the increase being in the form of a percentage boost from the character’s base speed, it’ll now be in set increments. For example, instead of +28% it would be +65. Valve aims to stop faster plays from becoming even faster, making slower characters feel redundant.
Other items such as Auras have become more expensive while the Eye of Skadi adds health regeneration reduction.
This theme translates to the hero changes: all of which revolve around the idea of slowing down the game. All abilities allowing an increase in individual speed have been affectively nerfed.
We’ll see how the community takes to these changes soon enough. To view the patch notes in their entirety, follow the link: https://www.dota2.com/patches/
