This year cannot get any worse. Doublelift has decided to follow in Bjergsen’s footsteps as he announces his retirement from League of Legends. Here is his announcement:
Doublelift announces his retirement from League of Legends Why?
In his announcement, Doublelift does not make the reason for his retirement clear; however, he does mention that he spent over a third of his life playing League, and this might have affected his overall outlook on the game. Doublelift has had a huge impact on North American League of Legends, winning 8 of the past 11 split championships and dominating on every roster he’s been a part of. Doublelift will definitely go down as one of the legends to ever play League at a professional level. Unfortunately he will be retiring without a World Championship title, but as stated in his twitlonger he mentions “let’s just have the rookies take up the torch on that one.”
Here are some of Doublelift’s best achievements:
- 2nd at MSI 2019 – 19th May 2019 – $200,000
- 9th-12th at the 2018 World Championship – 16th October 2018 – $145,125
- 1st at LCS Summer 2020 – 6th September 2020 – $100,000
What’s next for Doublelift?
In his statement he does not mention exactly what his future plans are, but he advises all his fans to support him on his new journey. Whether that be in League, as a coach or some sort of analyst, we shall see. But until then, be sure to keep yourself updated on www.esportsguide.com for more esports news!
