Here on esportsguide, we’re constantly on the look-out for trends in the industry. Accordingly, one such trend is the series of mainstream soccer organizations signing secondary rosters in esports. FC Barcelona LoL – A Familiar Sight
Specifically, Barcelona have dived into the highest level of competitive League of Legends in Spain – the Superliga. Here, they look to be acquiring the spot of the likes of S2V Esports. Supposedly, they’ve won a bid which other popular Spanish football teams were also fighting for.
Anyhow, we’re not sure whether or not they will acquire the roster formerly part of S2V Esports, or make moves to build something new. Overall, we’re happy to see mainstream football names making moves in esports.
Specifically, this Barcelona’s third main outreach into esports, following their bids into Hearthstone and Rocket League.
While being a staple to Spanish football, at this rate they could grow to support a community in competitive esports.
One thing of note is that the Barcelona brand will also be going against esports teams owned by renowned Barcelona players, such as Gerard Pique.
