In the most recent HLTV rankings update, Fnatic are marked as the #1 team with a total of 818 points. Fnatic have been on a dominant rise as of late, winning ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe, and placing 3rd in IEM Katowice.
As a core swedish team, that has been on the rise for so long, roster change after roster change, and remaining unsuccessful for a very long time, achieving this #1 spot on the HLTV rankings must mean a lot to them. This will give them a confidence boost mentally, but it will also create some pressure for the swedish squad.
Previously, Natus Vincere were the #1 team, with their outstanding performance during the start of 2020, however it seems like Fnatic have understood their playstyle and have been dominating them ever since. The last time Fnatic was the best team in the world (according to the HLTV rankings) was on the ranking update on the 11th of April 2016 when the roster consisted of Dennis and Olofmeister instead of Golden and Brollan.
Will Fnatic follow in Na’Vi’s footsteps and have a substantial drop in performance, or will they have a similar run like Astralis in 2018?
