Chinese League of Legends team and organisation FPX have announced that they have opted to bench Bo due to a potential match-fixing scandal. Here is FPX’s statement on the situation:
FPX bench Bo due to match-fixing scandal – What happened?
Apparently, FPX’s staff approached their current main Jungler Bo. The staff asked about potential match-fixing in the LDL Summer Split (LPL Academy) in 2020 in which he admitted to. Bo constantly explained that the match-fixing occurred due to persuasion. However no details as to which matches were affected were revealed. Despite him being persuaded in this match-fixing situation, FPX have took on the role of benching Bo until the investigation concludes.
FPX’s statement goes along the lines of the following:
“FunPlus Phoenix respects the playing field and the spirit of competitive sports. We will not tolerate any behavior that undermines the fairness and impartiality of any tournament.”

Who will replace him?
Following FPX’s statement, the jungle role was empty, and it was up to Tian to return. FunPlus Phoenix had no other choise but to have a feasible roster for their LPL matches. Obviously, this is not an ideal situation for anyone involved. However, for the sake of competitive integrity this investigation must go on.
Match fixing is a serious problem when it comes to Esports. We’ve already covered multiple instances of such match fixes, and it seems like long disciplined punishments seem to be the only solution. Hopefully teams that match fix take this as a lesson to stop doing so, and respect the competitive integrity within esports.
