With the Six Invitational being underway for a week and a half now we’ve had a couple of teams drop out and get eliminated from the event. One of these were G2 Esports as they got eliminated from the Six Invitational pretty early on in the playoffs stage. Here’s how it all went down.

G2 Esports eliminated from Six Invitational – Briefing

Group Stage

G2 Esports did not have the best start to the event, as they lost the initial group stage matches. These games were against solid teams like FaZe, Team oNe, FURIA, as well as Team BDS and Team Empire. These losses meant that the team had very low chances of qualifying to the next stage. However in their following matches, the team switched on and started winning. The first team they beat was CYCLOPS athlete gaming, and then wins versus Cloud9 and DarkZero Esports followed after.

Playoffs

This result got them just enough points to reach 8th place in groups and qualify to the playoffs. However, they only managed to reach the lower bracket of playoffs due to their poor qualification. Their first opponent was team Parabellum from Canada, and they left every G2 Esports fan in awe. Here Parabellum pulled off one of their best performances and took down the European team with a 2-0 sweep to eliminate them from the event. G2 Esports finish the event in 13th-16th place, grabbing only $55,000 in prize money.

What’s next?

With a huge number of teams eliminated, we just need to figure out which teams out of the last 4 (Team Liquid, TSM, NiP, MiBR) will come out on top! Tune into the event’s broadcasts and keep yourself updated with our website for all the latest esports news!
