G2 Esports have announced that they are parting ways with one of their Fortnite players, Coop. Here is their announcement:

G2 Esports parting ways with Coop – Who is he?

18-year-old Sean “Coop” Cooper is a professional Fortnite player from the United States. He started his career in September 2019 with Team Evade which lasted till February of the next year. After that, he played for Overtime NA, as well as Optimal Ambition. After a course of successful results, in October 2020 he was called up by G2 to represent them in North American Fortnite tournaments.

Here are some of his best achievements:

  • 1st at FNCS Chapter 2 Season 3 Grand Finals NA East – 16th August 2020 – $50,000
  • 1st in DreamHack Open August 2020: NA East – 21st August 2020 – $10,000
  • 2nd at FNCS Chapter 2 Season 2 Week 2: NA East – 29th March 2020 – $2,100

This is what Coop said following the departure announcement:

“This is not gonna stop my grind, I’m fully motivated with streaming and grinding the game, I have a good trio and duo and I’m gonna work harder than ever to be back, love u all who still gonna support me, thank you.”

Community reaction

The community was quite split when they first saw the news. Some were disappointed and sad that he is leaving the team, but there were others that pointed out that he hadn’t had a high placement in Fortnite events for a very long time.

Coop will now be searching for a new team to represent in the upcoming Fortnite events. We’re sure that with his talent and experience he can find a new home soon.
