Today came the conclusion of the 6th edition of the NineToFive series, where we saw Gambit Esports being crowned NineToFive Champions for the 4th time.
Gambit Esports crowned NineToFive champions – How did they do it?
Due to their current ranking in the current CS:GO world Leaderboard, Gambit Esports were already qualified through the playoffs, and did not have to go through the entire process of the Group Stage and Swiss Stage.
Playoffs
For their first match-up they faced off against team ESPADA which was no match for Gambit as the series ended in a clean 2-0. Next up was team SKADE, a strong team all throughout NineToFive#6. That being said, they definitely gave Gambit Esports a hard match. The first map (Train) ended in overtime 19-17 favoring Gambit, and the second map (Overpass) ended in close fashion as the match was won by Gambit 16-14. This win versus SKADE meant that Gambit secured a spot in the Grand Finals of the NineToFive#6.
Finals
In the Grand Finals, Gambit matched up versus close rivals Nemiga Gaming. The Grand Finals was in a best of 3 format and map picks were as follows: Vertigo, Inferno, Overpass.
Vertigo
In the first map, Gambit kicked off with an astonishing lead as they won the T-side half with a 12-3 scoreline. This meant that Nemiga had to do everything in their power to gain back all the rounds they lost, but unfortunately this was not enough. Gambit won Vertigo in dominant fashion as they ended the game 16-4.
Inferno
Next up was Inferno, which was a Nemiga’s map pick. Nemiga started the match with a great half, ending it 9-6 in their favour; however, this time round Gambit were to play on the Counter-Terrorist side. Nemiga tried all they could, but in the end, Gambit’ CT-side was too strong for them, ending the match 16-14 and winning the series 2-0. Here is the final moment of that series:
We’ve seen this Gambit lineup develop over the course of 2020. And seeing them win these NineToFive events has certainly established their dominance in the CIS region.
