Indeed, the only way to conclude a season is with an epic event. Accordingly, the Hearthstone World Championship 2021 took place this past weekend. Read on as we recap this $500,000 event which concluded the season!
Hearthstone World Championship 2021 Recap – The End of a Season
Heading into this event, Blizzard invited the 8 very best players in the world to compete for the majority of a $500,000 prize pool. Accordingly, running from the 18th to the 19th December, the online competition would decide the World Champion.
And that’s where Wataru “posesi” Ishibashi rose to the top. Heading into the event as an underdog, the player had never won the International Championship before.
Yet, in the Group Stage he managed to clench a 2-0 score, proceeding to the Playoffs. It’s here that he then went on to take down his two remaining opponents in the Playoffs to earn the title of World Champion.
Both matches here were incredibly tough, with 3-2 scorelines in both cases. In the Finals, he matched up against favourite “glory”, winning in an epic 5 map series once again.
With this past season settled, we can’t wait for next year.
