Indeed, it’s time to get excited for some competitive Arena of Valor. Following the conclusion of the ongoing spring season, the AoV World Cup 2021 is around the corner. Bearing this in mind, here at esportsguide we’ve gathered all the viewership details. Let’s learn How to Watch!
Event Background
This event has been a long time coming. Sadly, the 2020 iteration of this event had to be cancelled for health reasons. Therefore, there’s a tonne of excitement behind this year’s confirmed event. Announced earlier this April, the event looks to invite teams from around the world.
Specifically, this World Cup will involve countries coming from 8 different countries. Let me list them below:
- Chinese Taipei – Most Outstanding Player, ONE Team, MAD Team
- Vietnam – Team Flash, Saigon Phantom, VGaming
- Thailand – Bacon Time, TBD
- Indonesia – ArchAngel
- Japan – TBD
- Brazil – Overclock Esports
- Korea – TBD
- China – TBD
Beyond world dominance, the event will offer a $500,000 prize pool to the competitors. Further on, this summer event will run from 19th June to the 18th July.
Format
In terms of format, these 14 teams will be thrown into the gauntlet to sort out the best of the best. Like last time, the event is split into two stages:
- Group Stage – June 19-27th – here, two groups of seven will battle it out. A single round robin format will determine our leaders. Indeed, only the top 4 from each group make it to the Playoffs. Here, BO2 series will be played.
- Playoffs – July 6-14th – here, a single-elimination bracket will grant us our winner. Accordingly, each match will be BO7 and the global ban pick rule stands.
It’s a simple yet classic format for this World Cup style event.

Predictions
What an exciting time for competitive Arena of Valor. Bearing this in mind, this will unite the entire competitive scene for this event. Let’s trace back to the 2019 event to see how the competition stacked in the previous iteration of the event:
- 1st – Vietnam
- 2nd – Chinese Taipei
- 3rd – 4th – Vietnam Wildcard, Thailand Wildcard
- 5th – 8th – China, Chinese Taipei Wildcard, Thailand, North America
- 9th – 10th – Malaysia, Indonesia
- 11th – 12th – Japan, Korea
So, it’s clear who the favourites are. From past events and how the community is looking right now, Vietnam, China and Thailand are looking like favourites to take the coveted World Cup.
Do the remaining regions stand a chance? Notably, however, certain teams are still not determined and could make all the difference. Do note that teams will not play under the esports organization names, but that of the region. In the past few months, Japan and Korea have been looking somewhat stronger – perhaps they can make a run here at the World Cup?
Beyond the general predictions for the competition, we also have high expectations for the event. Although being online, viewership needs to be at an all-time high for this event.
