Read on as we discuss the format and predictions.
Format
For all teams involved, this is a great opportunity to practice for The International. Furthermore, the event has a similar format to the event, consisting of a Group Stage and Playoffs.
Firstly, the Group Stage will take place between 23rd and 25th August. Here, two groups of six teams will fight through a single round robin with BO2 matches. Let’s take a look at the groups below:
- Group A: Alliance, Entity, Talon Esports, Team Aster, Team Secret, Thunder Awaken
- Group B: BOOM Esports, Fnatic, Nigma Galaxy, OG, Team Liquid, TSM
From here, seeds will go on to the Playoffs. Accordingly, here’s how seeding works:
- Top 2 from each group – advanced to upper bracket of playoffs
- 3-4th from each group – lower bracket of playoffs
- 5-6th from each group – eliminated
The best teams will make it to the Playoffs, with competition running from August 26th to 28th. This final stage will involve a double elimination bracket. Accordingly, teams will fight through BO3 matches while Grand Final will be BO5.
For those unaware, a double elimination bracket means that teams in ther Upper Bracket will have to lose twice in order to be eliminated from the competition.
