Event Background
For those unaware, the eChampions League 2022 looks to offer the highest level of competitive FIFA. Indeed, with $280,000 on the line, EA Sports is offering an incredible event with solo players going at it for European dominance.
Indeed, all competition involves the most talented players from Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe. Taking place from 19th February to 27th May, thee online event looks to entertain an entire continent.
This premier event involves 64 competitors from all across Europe. Where we’d usually list all the competitors, but considering the size we’ll opt not to. Read on as we discuss more details about this incredible premier FIFA event.
Format
In terms of format, there’s a lot to discuss.
As we’ll reiterate, the competition involves 64 individual players, representing themselves or organizations in Europe.
Accordingly, competition kicks off with an exciting Group Stage. Taking place from February 19th to February 20th, the 2 groups will be divided based on regions:
- Group A/Western Europe: France, Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain
- Group B/Central and Eastern Europe: Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine
During the group stage, a Swiss Format will divide the competition. From this stage, the top 16 players from each group will move on to the Knockout Stage.
Taking place a month later, the Knockout Stage will run from April 23rd to April 24th. Here, a double elimination will reduce the competition from 16 to 8.
These top 8 will make it to the Finals Stage to take place in May 27th 2022, which is yet to be detailed.
