Following the FIFAe World Cup, the Club World Cup 2022 is the next exciting stop. Shaking things up, the competition is transitioning from the 1v1 format of the World Cup to the 2v2 format of the Club World Cup – that’s the main difference!

Inviting the duos signed to Clubs, EA Games is hosting the competition at the Copenhagen Bella Arena. With $300,000 on the line, the competition will run from the 20th to the 23rd July.

In terms of format, the competition here will involve two stages.

Firstly, there’ll be a Group Stage. Here, the 24 clubs have been split into 4 groups of 6. Within each Group, a double round robin will take place – everyone plays against each other twice. Here’s how the competition has been divided below:

  • A: FC Koln, Ninjas in Pyjamas, exceL, MGCF eSports, Team Flash, Team Heretics
  • B: Movistar Riders, FC Schalke 04 Esports, Serious About FIFA, Tuwaiq Esports Club, Complexity Gaming, Essentials Gaming
  • C: ANKAA Esports, ORDER, Team Vitality, Reply Totem, Mkers, KRU Esports
  • D: Team Gullit, Fnatic, NEO, DUX America, Dire Wolves, GBX Esports Team

Accordingly, inside the Group, here’s how the scoring system will work with these single match games:

  • Winning teams – 3 points
  • Drawing teams – 1 point
  • Losing teams – 0 points

Bearing this in mind, only the top 4 teams from each Group will progress to the Knockout Stage.

Once in the Knockout Stage, the final teams will fight throuh a single elimination to try and be crowned champions with each match played over two legs.
