Overall, Southeast Asia may not be the top region for Dota 2, but it’s one which loves the title dearly. Accordingly, an upcoming event focuses exclusively on this developing region. Naturally, we’re referring to the GAMERS GALAXY Invitational Series Thailand – read on to learn How to Watch!
Event Background
For those unaware, GAMERS GALAXY is an up-and-coming series of events hosted by Galaxy Racer. Indeed, earlier this year the organizer invited 10 teams to the Invitational Series Dubai. The event will run from 18-20th August, opening its doors for free to all viewers with a live crowd!
Similarly, this time around the organizers are taking the competitors to Thailand with the likes of $150,000 on the line. In additiion, the event is acting as a showcase of the region, as the organizers are exclusively inviting teams from the Southeast Asia region.
Indeed, heading to the Central Hatyai Venue, the following 8 teams have been invited:
- Army Geniuses
- Boom Rivalry
- Execration
- Fnatic
- Polaris Esports
- RSG
- Team SMG
- Talon Esports
With only prize to fight for, this event is a great opportunity to practice as teams plan to fight for TI qualification.
Format
Accordingly, so far the format has not been revealed. However, it is almost certain that the format will be similar to the Dubai 2022 event earlier this year.
Bearing this in mind, the event is planned to have two stages of competition. Firstly, we’ll have a round robin group stage to kick things off.
Naturally, the 8 teams will be split into two groups of 4. Within each group, teams will play one match against one another with BO1 matches. Accordingly, teams will compete to earn points in order to seed to the Playoffs stage as follow:
- 1st-2nd of each group – advances to the Upper Bracket of Playoffs
- 3rd-4th of each group – advances to the Play-In
Once in the Play-In, teams will fight in a single elimination competition. Here the winner of each match advances to the lower bracket of playoffs while the loser of each match is eliminated. Accordingly, matches will be BO3.
Heading into the Playoffs, there’ll be a final double elimination bracket where all matches will be BO3. Everything looks to conclude on August 20th with a BO3 grand final.
