How to Watch HCS 2022 Kansas Major – teams, format, schedule, streams, predictions

Introducing Halo Infinite as a featured esport early this year, one Major has constantly been on our radar. Accordingly, the HCS 2022 Kansas Major is finally here. Inviting the very best teams in the world, it’s an international celebration of competitive Halo. Read on as we provide everything you need to view this event below!

Event Background

Organized by 343 Industries and Esports Engine, this is the largest Halo Infinite esports event so far this season.

Running from the 29th April to the 1st May, the weekend will see the best teams in the world compete for the majority of $250,000. Taking place offline in Kansas City, the event rekindles the open and invited format mixture.

Indeed, the competitors involve 16 teams who have earned their spot – some of the best teams from the top regions. Accordingly beyond these teams, an Open Bracket will also allow 8 more seeds to fight for a spot. Take a look at the competitors below:

Format

In terms of format, there are three stages of competition.

Kicking off with the Open Bracket Stage, here a double elimination bracket will take place. A total of 8 teams have qualified from Open Championships amongst other teams.

From here, the top 4 from the Upper Bracket will move on to the Pool Play stage while the top 4 from the Lower Bracket will advance to the Championship Lower Bracket Round 1. At this point in time, all matches are BO5.

And then, we’ve arrived at the Pool Play. Accordingly, the 4 groups of five teams in a round robin will compete together with the qualified teams as noted. Take a look at the groups:

  • A: Acend, Chiefs Esports Club, Cloud9, XSET + TBD
  • B: FaZe Clan, Fnatic, Natus Vincere, OpTic Gaming + TBD
  • C: eUnited, G2 Esports, Quadrant, Team Cruelty + TBD
  • D: JLINGZ esports, Pioneers, Pittsburgh, Sentinels + TBD

Furthermore, from each group of 5 after the BO5 matches, here’s how seeding will work for the next stages:

  • Top 2 of each group – Championship Upper Bracket Round 1
  • 3rd – Championship Lower Bracket Round 3
  • 4th – Championship Lower Bracket Round 2
  • 5th – Championship Lower Bracket Round 1

And then, we’ve arrived at the Championship Bracket. Here, 24 teams will compete in a final double elimination bracket with each match a BO5. Seeding as determine above!
