Accordingly, competitive Halo Infinite is building up to the HCS Orlando Major. Bearing this in mind, each region has its own regional championship. Here, we’ll be taking a look at the HCS Oceania Regional Championship and learning how to watch this exciting event!
Event Background
For those unaware, the Halo Championship Series is the highest level of competitive Halo in every region. Accordingly, one of the smaller regions is in fact Oceania.
Taking place in Melbourne Australia, we have $50,000 of prize pool on the line as sorted out by 343, DreamHack and ESL.
Specifically, the dates for the event run from 2nd September to 4th September. Competing at this event are 38 teams trying to fight their way in.
Such an immense number of teams is made possible thanks to the presence of an Open Bracket taking place days before the Main Event. From these teams, only the top 4 teams from this Open Bracket will make it to the Regional Qualifier.
Otherwise, here are the confirmed teams below:
Seeded
- Divine Mind
- Chiefs
- Mindfreak
- Dire Wolves
Championship Qualifier
- Kitbash
- Team Immunity
Championship Open Bracket
- TBD x4
Naturally, the stakes are huge and very clear. Specifically, the top 3 teams will earn travel fees for the Orlando Major while 1st place teams will head straight to the Orlando Major.
Format
So, as mentioned earlier, the Main Event will actually come after an Open Bracket.
Accordingly, first we’ll have the Open Bracket where open signups will compete with one another. Furthermore, the top two will immediately find themselves in the Elimination Bracket while 3-4th will seed into Pool Play.
Indeed, now then we’ll have the chance to enjoy Pool Play. Specifically, at this stage two groups of four will compete in order to progress deeper into the competition. Here are how the groups look right now:
- A: Dire Wolves, Divine Mind, Kitbash, TBD
- B: Chiefs Esports Club, Mindfreak, TBD, Team Immunity
So, here’s how seeding into the Championship Bracket will work:
- 1st place – Championship Bracket Upper Semi-Finals
- 2-3rd place – Championship Bracket Upper Quarter-Finals
- 4th place – Championship Bracket Lower Round 1
Within pool play, all matches are BO5.
Once in the Championship Bracket, 10 teams sit in a double elimination bracket where each match will be BO5 ending with an epic BO7 Grand Final.
