Format
There are multiple stages of competition here.
Specifically, we’ll kick off with a Group Stage on 9th February, running all the way to 17th April.
Here, all 18 teams will be split into 3 groups of 6 based on rankings from last season. Accordingly, the groups are as follows:
- S Group – eStar Pro, Gank Gaming, Talent Gaming, TOP Esports Armor, Wolves, Xianyou Gaming
- A Group – AG Super Play, Douya Gaming, LGD Goose, Mighty Tiger Gaming, Rogue Warriors, Team WE
- B Group – EDward Gaming, Hero JuiJing, KuaiShow Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, ViCi Gaming, Weibo Gaming
Promising three rounds of competition, here are the dates of the round:
- First Round – February 9-27th
- Second Round – March 3-27th
- Third Round – April 2-17th
Across the first two rounds, a single round robin with BO5 games will take place across each group. Do note that at each stage, the bottom teams get moved down a group – at the end of round 2, all teams in B Group are eliminated.
In the final third round, the 2 remaining groups will play a single-round-robin with BO5, where the bottom 2 from Group A are eliminated.
Considering this, there will be 6 teams left to compete in Shanghai at an unannounced date. A double-elimination bracket in a BO7 will determine the winner of the entire event. From the Groups, here’s how seeding will work:
- Top 4 from Group S – Winners Bracket
- 5-6th in Group S – Lower Bracket R2
- Top 4 in Group A – Lower Bracket R1
Following this insane format, the event will be over sometime in May.
