As you’ve likely realised, the upcoming competitive League of Legends season is almost here. Accordingly, we’ve already discussed some regions. This time around, the LEC Spring Split 2022 is on our mind. Read on as we discuss all of the viewership details you need in this episode of How to Watch!
Event Background
Heading into this season, the LEC 2022 is the 7th season of the regional event, and once again 10 franchised teams are back to compete to be the best in Europe.
Indeed, this time around we have over $200,000 on the line, with everything kicking off on January 14th lasting all the way until 10th April. Accordingly, with an Online/Offline structure, Riot Games has invited the following 10 teams to kick off 2022 with a bang:
- Astralis
- Excel Esports
- Fnatic
- G2 Esports
- MAD Lions
- Misfits Gaming
- Rogue
- SK Gaming
- Team BDS – not that they have replaced former FC Schalke 04
- Team Vitality
Specifically, these next few months, there’s a lot to discuss. Apart from prize, teams are playing for both regional Playoffs and a chance to be seeded at upcoming international events.
Read on as we dive into further details.
Format
With regards to the format, although Riot Games hasn’t published anything official, we can base this season off of last year.
Bearing this in mind, the first stage will kick off with a Group Stage. Here, each team will be involved with a double round robin. For those unaware, this implies that each team will play another twice, adding up to 18 matches earch.
Following these many and short best-of-one matches, we’ll have our final standings before the Playoffs.
Placing well will be essential in order to have the best chance to succeed at the subsequent event for the top teams – to our knowledge only the top 6 will progress, though we need further confirmation from Riot Games.

Predictions
As always, to look to the future, we need to consult the past.
The last time that the LEC enjoyed some regional competition was back in LEC Summer 2021. Here’s how the competition stacked up back then:
- #1 – MAD Lions
- #2 – Fnatic
- #3 – Rogue
- #4 – G2 Esports
- #5 – Misfits Gaming
- #6 – Team Vitality
However, a lot has changed since. Accordingly, beside the multiple roster changes across all rosters, the game itself has gone through a few changes.
Regardless, we can’t wait to see Europe back in action!
