Following the Spring 2022 event, the competition is back to compete for the prize pool of €200,000. In addition, and more importantly, apart from the prize pool, there will be seeds for Worlds 2022 on the line too.
Kicking off on 17th June, take a look at the participants listed below:
- Astralis
- Excel Esports
- Fnatic
- G2 Esports
- MAD Lions
- Misfits Gaming
- Rogue
- SK Gaming
- Team BDS
- Team Vitality
As the eight season running for the LEC, we can’t wait to see how the format tries to spice things up.
Format
Naturally, the event will kick off as so many others do – with a Group Stage.
At this first stage, the competitors will fight through a double round robin and each team will play 18 matches after facing each competitor twice. Specifically, all matches are BO1 too.
And of course, afterwards, there’ll be the Playoffs. However, this time around, Championship Points will play a part.
These involves team being awarded points based on their Spring Playoffs and Summer Regular Season performances. These points will contribute to seeding in the Playoffs.
However, if teams finish 7-10th in the Summer event, they will not be awarded any points. Regardless, 1-6th from the Group Stage qualify for the Playoffs.
Once we arrive at the Playoffs, the final six teams will compete in a double elimination competition, with BO5 matches with the prize pool and seeds for Worlds up for grabs.
