Gabriel Sciberras

This is what the entire competitive Dota 2 community has been waiting for. Indeed, finally, we have the first offline major for the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit! After a year of online events, Valve is striking back with the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 – we’re itching with excitement! Let’s dive into a How to Watch!

Event Background

As I’ll reiterate, this is a monumental event for the community. With a return to offline, the Dota Pro Citcuit is back with $500,000 on the line! Organized by Valve, there’s been a strong push to host the event offline and all the way in Singapore too. Accordingly, the event will run from March 27th up to April 4th. Participating are the top 18 competitive Dota 2 teams in the world:

Playoffs Seeds

  • Team Secret
  • Fnatic
  • Virtus.pro
  • Evil Geniuses
  • beastcoast
  • TBD

Group Stage Seeds

  • Alliance
  • Neon Esports
  • Natus Vincere
  • Quincy Crew
  • Thunder Predator
  • TBD

Wild Card

  • Team Nigma
  • Team Liquid
  • Vici Gaming
  • T1
  • AS Monaco Gambit
  • TBD

Format

In terms of format, we have several stages to look forward to. Technically, although eighteen teams will be attending, not everybody will make it to the Group Stage.

Accordingly, we’ll be kicking off with the Wild Card on the 27-28th March, were six teams will fight for two seeds into the Group Stage. Here, matches will be BO2 and the teams that don’t make it will be eliminated.

Moving forward, the Group Stage will then take place on the 29th and 30th March. A single group of eight teams will undergo a single round-robin with BO2 matches. First and second place will seed into the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs while 3-6th place will jump to the Lower Bracket. Sadly, the remaining teams will pack their bags.

Furthermore, the Playoffs will then kick off from March 31st to April 4th through an epic double elimination bracket.

Schedule for the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021

Currently, there is no official schedule available for the event. One thing I’d like to point out here is that this will be first-ever Major to be streamed in ‘glorious 4K 60fps’.

Predictions

With regards to predictions, it’s been a while since the Dota Pro Circuit literally fell off last season.

Accordingly, since then, specifically the OMEGA League event of October, the game has changed significantly. Regardless, here are the regional leaders from the Immortal level:

  • Europe – 1st (Team Secret), 2nd (OG), 3rd (Team Nigma), 4th (Alliance)
  • Americas – 1st (Quincy Crew), 2nd (4 Zoomers), 3rd (Thunder Predator), 4th (beastcoast)
  • Asia (Divine) – 1st (496 Gaming), 2nd (Execration), 3rd (Neon Esports), 4th (EHOME.Immortal)

As I’ll happily reiterate, in the post-season, roster changes and game updates have drastically changes how the Dota Pro Circuit is looking like.

Furthermore, besides those placings, we recently covered the current Dota Pro Circuit point standings which can also show some insight in this regard. In terms of regions, Europe and the Americas are likely to compete for the top seeds with teams such as Evil Geniuses and Team Secret falling under the category of ‘favourites’.

However, since it’s been so long since the last offline Major, literally anything can happen and we can’t wait!
