Format
With regards to format, this B event will be just like the A event which concluded earlier this week.
Indeed, the entire event will revolve around a Swiss Stage type of competition.
Specifically, teams will need to win a certain amount of games to either progress or regress a level in the Swiss System:
- Elimination and Advancement matches are BO3
- All other matches BO1
- 3rd place decider via BO3 single-elimination
And yes, once again, the Buchholz system will be used to seed teams from Round 3 to 5 – based on points according to whom you face.
With a total of five rounds to play through, the majority of teams will need three wins to progress and earn a Top 6 spot.

Predictions
Why is this part of Europe ‘B’ and not ‘A’? Well, it’s because the competitors here are less accomplished as the others, hence the lower quality seeds on the line. Regardless, there’s everything to play for still.
Heading into an event like this, many favour the 7 teams which are qualified via their earlier performance at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 event last year. Here’s how they ranked compared to one another:
- 2nd – G2 Esports
- 3rd – Players (former Gambit)
- 5-8th – Ninjas in Pyjamas
- 9-11th – Entropiq and Copenhagen Flames
- 12-14th – Astralis
- 15-16th – ENCE
While G2 Esports and Players are the favourites for this event, will the remaining former PGL Major teams qualify once again?
Let’s see if an Open Bracket team can force an upset!
