Event Background
For those unaware, the PCS events are the highest level of regional competition for esports organization. Kicking off the season strong, everything builds up to the Global Championship 2022 down the line.
Indeed, at each event, teams can earn so-called PUBG Global Championship Points apart from the prize pool at hand. In this case, a total of $250,000 is on the line for this online competition – 16 of the best squads of four in Europe will battle for a stake in this!
Running from the 29th April all the way to the 8th of May, the event will feature the following teams, either invited or qualified:
Invited
- Natus Vincere
- ENCE
- FaZe Clan
- Heroic
- Futbolist
- BBL Esports
- Team Liquid
- Northern Lights Team
Qualifiers
- Skade – EU
- Sakura Zensen – EU
- Entropiq – EU
- Thunder – EU
- HOWL – EU MEA
- Team Rage – EU MEA
- Road To Glory – EU MEA
- Regnum Carya Esports – EU MEA
Let’s dive a little deeper into the format!
Format
Accordingly, as always, the format is quite simple.
For this event, the 16 teams will compete in a total of 30 matches over 6 days – all contending against one another over and over again.
During each match, points can be earned in the following way:
- Kills – 1 per kill
- 1st – 10 points
- 2nd – 6 points
- 3rd – 5 points
- 4th – 4 points
- 5th – 3 points
- 6th – 2 points
- 7th-8th – 1 point
- 9-16th – 0 points
As you can imagine, 30 matches are quite a bit – it’s a marathon not a sprint. Over the matches, teams will need to balance placement and kills to have the best shot of a high placement.

Predictions
So, as the sixth in line, let’s take a look at the PCS 5 to see how these teams stacked up prior:
- 1st – Virtus.pro
- 2nd – FaZe Clan
- 3rd – Question Mark
- 4th – BBL Esports
- 5th – Natus Vincere
However, there are also the placings at the PUBG Global Championship 2021 from November which likely carry more weight:
- 2nd – Heroic
- 3rd – Virtus.pro
- 8th – Team Liquid
- 9th – ENCE
As always, battle royale esports remains very difficult to predict.
Especially considering the game changes which have taken since November, this new start could see new names finding a new place.
Considering the absence of Virtus.pro, the favourites for this event have to be Heroic.
Outside of competition, we can’t wait to register the viewership details and the impact of the event – the upcoming season of competitive PUBG has us rather excited!
