Finally, the Six Invitational 2021 is back and we can look forward to some international competition. Indeed, competitive Rainbow Six Siege needs this event more than ever. Recently, they fell down our esports tier list – let’s see How to Watch this incredible event which could change all of that later this year!

Event Background

For those unaware, the Six Invitational is a yearly celebration of competitive Rainbow Six Siege. Accordingly, the top teams in the world are seeded for this event in order to try and claim international dominance. With 20 teams planned to arrive, they’ll be competing for a staggering prize pool of $3,000,000. Furthermore, the event will run from 11th May up to 23rd May.

Who are these top teams you ask? Here they are, listed below, qualifying thanks to Global Standings:

  • BDS Esport
  • Cloud9
  • DarkZero Esports
  • FaZe Clan
  • G2 Esports
  • Giants Gaming
  • MIBR
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Oxygen Esports
  • Spacestation Gaming

  • Team oNe eSports
  • TSM
  • Virtus.pro
  • CYCLOPS athlete gaming
  • Mkers
  • Parabellum Esports
  • FURIA Esports
  • Wildcard Gaming
  • Team Empire

Unfortunately, due to flight restrictions, Wildcard Gaming will sadly not be making it to Paris for the offline event. Indeed, the format will go ahead as planned with 19 teams instead of 20.

Format

We’ve got 12 days of exciting gameplay which Ubisoft plans to use wisely. The event is split into two stages – a Group Stage and Playoffs.

Starting with Group Stage on the 11th May, teams have been split into Two Round Robins (one group of 10, one group of 9). Accordingly, each team plays each other once in quick BO1 matches. Here, teams will fight to be in the top 8 in order to progress to the Playoffs. Groups are as follows:

Furthermore, the Playoffs from 19-23rd May, a double-elimination bracket will take place. BO3 bracket games will precede the BO5 grand final – noting that the winner’s bracket team will earn a 1 map advantage in the Grand Final.

Predictions

Let’s rewind the clock and look at the Six Invitational 2020 results from last year. It was here that Spacestation Gaming claimed victory over Ninjas in Pyjamas, TSM and BDS Esport who all followed on up to 4th place.

Yet, we all know that was a year ago. Heading into this event, favourites would have to be Oxygen Esports, BDS Esport, Cloud9 and Rogue should I have to name a few. Teams will definitely be giving it there all considering the $3,000,000 prize pool on the line for these teams.

Beyond competition, here at esportsguide we have high expectations for the event in terms of viewership and assisting the community develop a love for this esport. With the main leagues suffering in this regard, this is a test to see where competitive R6 stands compared to the other esports.
