Accordingly, we’ve been waiting for this event for a while now. Indeed, as the climax of Stage 1 for competitive VALORANT, this Major looks to be another internatinoal celebration of the esport. Read on as we discuss everything you need to know tro view VCT Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik 2022 below!
Event Background
Across multiple regions of competitive VALORANT, regions have been competing to have a seed at this Major event for over a month now. Claiming the few seeds available via regional playoffs, we’ve finally reached the point where all the teams have qualified.
Indeed, it’s the perfect time for an international LAN event! Accordingly, Riot Games is inviting the 12 best teams in the world to Reykjavik.
Taking place from 10th April to 24th April, the event will include the following competitors, with their qualification listed together:
Top Seeded Teams
- G2 Esports – EMEA Challengers
- The Guard – NA Challengers
- Paper Rex – APAC Challengers
- LOUD – Brazil Challengers
Group Stage Teams
- Fnatic – EMEA Challengers
- Team Liquid – EMEA Challengers
- DRX – Korea Challengers
- OpTic Gaming – NA Challengers
- XERXIA – APAC Challengers
- ZETA DIVISION – Japan Challengers
- KRU Esports – LATAM Challengers
- Ninjas in Pyjamas – LATAM/BR Playoffs
Namely, we’d like to point out that the EMEA Champions of FunPlus Phoenix could not make it to the event and were awarded points instead. Instead, Team Liquid were invited as the next elligible team from the region.
Anyways, apart from prize pool and Points, which will be helpful to qualify for VALORANT Champions later on, teams are competing for global dominance.
Format
As you can see in the qualification, not every team has seeded equally. Specifically, the champions of the four most competitive regions have received straight seed to Playoffs, skipping the Group Stage.
So, it all starts with the Group Stage. Here, eight teams have been seeded into two double elimination format (GSL) groups as outlined below:
- Group A: Fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, DRX, ZETA DIVISION
- Group B: OpTic Gaming, XERXIA, KRU Esports, Team Liquid
All matches will be BO3, teams competing to try and be one of the two teams continuing to the Playoffs stage.
As we stated, at the Playoffs stage, four teams will be awaiting the four qualified teams. Accordingly, a double-elimination bracket will take place where all games will be BO3, while the Lower Final and Grand Final will be BO5 matches.

Predictions
In terms of predictions, this is a tall order. Indeed, some of the best teams in the world formerly didn’t make it to the event. Accordingly, following the game update, not everyone has adapted to the new fast-paced meta which is shaping games.
However, in terms of predictions, we’d like to favour the Top Seeds from the most competitive regions – namely G2 Esports and The Guard.
Mainly, there’s a tonne of excitement surrounding The Guard – the new North American team which has dominated a region out of nowhere. However, it’s anyone’s game at this event – it’s the best of the best.
