Yes, this is not a dream, OpTic Gaming is back. The Chicago Huntsmen CDL team is now rebranding into OpTic Chicago. Here is their emotional announcement:
Huntsmen rebranding into OpTic Chicago – How?
Back in September of 2019, Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez announced that he was leaving OpTic Gaming behind due to him having to sell the brand to “Immortals Gaming Club”. After this announcement he immediately revealed that he will be joining NRG and establishing the Chicago Huntsmen as NRG’s Call of Duty team. During their first season, the team did pretty well overall, finishing in 3rd place at the Call of Duty League 2020 Playoffs.
Without OpTic, H3CZ was feeling that small space of emptiness, and he knew that he had to do everything in his power to get the organization back in the palm of his hands. And that is exactly what he did. With this acquisition, the Chicago Huntsmen brand is no more, and NRG will be represented by OpTic Chicago heading into the 2021 season.
Community reaction?
It is very clear that the fans aren’t the only ones happy with the rebirth of the OpTic Gaming brand. Even the players themselves have also expressed how they felt about the move:
The deal has been a long time coming. OpTic is nothing without H3CZ and its core members. And seeing the brand itself back in the COD scene is amazing to see. Hopefully the return hype is not the only type of news we’ll see from them this year as they seek out more championships in the 2021 season!
