Over the past week, the CS:GO competitive scene was treated to an awesome event. Accordingly, the IEM Katowice 2023 CS:GO event crowned another world champion. Indeed, G2 Esports rose to the top with an incredible performance – read to learn more about it below!
IEM Katowice 2023 CS:GO – An Incredible Winning Streak
Overall, with $1,000,000 on the line, the event took place from 1st February to 12th February 2023.
Involving the top 24 teams in the world, the event was insane. While G2 Esports may not have been the number one favourite, their run was truly incredible.
Firstly, they went flawless in Group A, with the following run:
- G2 Esports vs BIG (2-0)
- G2 Esports vs FaZe Clan (2-0)
- Natus Vincere vs G2 Esports (0-2)
Heading into the Playoffs, they started in the Semifinals and continued to dominate:
- G2 Esports vs Team Liquid (2-0)
Taking down all of the big names, they then faced Heroic in the Grand Final. It’s here that G2 Esports lost their only map of the entire tournament.
So yes, while this was a great victory for G2 Esports, this was an incredible statement for the dominance of this team – we can’t wait to see this team continue performing! Notably, their 19-map win streak is a new record for CS:GO!
