The Stage 4 Major is in play and we’re just one day in. Unfortunately that meant that 2 teams had to be eliminated, and they were LA Thieves and London Royal Ravens. Here is how it all went down:
LA Thieves and Royal Ravens out of Stage 4 Major – Match Briefing
Unfortunately due to their poor performance through the group play the Los Angeles Thieves, London Royal Ravens, Seattle Surge, Los Angeles Guerrillas were all set to start their play in the first round of the lower bracket.
LA Thieves
The LA Thieves matched up against the LA Guerrillas. On paper, the Thieves looked better, and were sure to win the series. They started out stronger, with a dominant Hardpoint win on Garrison (250-141). Unfortunately the next 2 matches that followed didn’t go in their favour. As LA Guerrillas won both SND on Raid, and Control on Garrison. The Thieves were dominant once again during the Hardpoint match on Raid, but eventually lost out on SND Miami.
What folded everything for the LA Thieves is that one of their main players, Huke, was unable to take part in the first day of the Stage 4 Major. Due to this, the team had to play with Drazah as their replacement.
London Royal Ravens
On the other hand, the London Royal Ravens (LRR) took on Seattle Surge. Here, the Surge squad came out stronger, winning the Hardpoint game mode on Apocalypse. The Ravens replied quickly with an SND win on Raid, but in the end it was all for nothing. What followed were 2 strong maps played by the Surges, winning 3-1 on Control (Checkmate) and 250-89 on Checkmate again.
And just like that, the LA Thieves and Royal Ravens are out of Stage 4 Major. A lot of teams still remain, and we cannot wait to see it all unfold!
