The LA Thieves have been finally announced as 100 Thieves’ newest CDL team. We covered this deal last week, but it has been finally confirmed by 100 Thieves in their video announcement:
As mentioned in our previous article, 100 Thieves have finally acquired OpTic’s CDL spot, and are returning to Call of Duty heading into 2021. The move has been requested by many fans, especially die hard Call of Duty fans. With Nadeshot being an icon of the esport, it’s almost impossible to not have him around, and as he describes in their post-announcement video, 100 Thieves is never leaving Call of Duty again.
If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a video of 100 Thieves president, John Robinson and CEO, Nadeshot, discussing their plans with the LA Thieves, heading into Call of Duty:
What’s next?
In the video they discuss that they are planning to expand into other Call of Duty titles. Meaning that they will have a dedicated Warzone team, as well as a CoD Mobile team. Having an esports organization such as 100 Thieves investing into Cod Mobile is definitely helpful when it comes to expanding mobile esports as a genre. We cannot wait to see what else the organization has in planned in the coming future.
We’ve already seen 100 Thieves being quite successful in Call of Duty with their 2018-2019 roster, winning both CWL Anaheim 2019 and CWL London 2019 they can only hope of achieving similar success with their newest roster.
