Following a successful global appearance for the LCK at Worlds 2020, the next season is approaching. What’s so special about this season? Finally, after years of waiting, the LCK 2021 will officially be franchised. Bearing that in mind, only a limited number of spots are available, ten to be exact. Read on to find out who made the cut.
By ‘make the cut’, we’re of course referring to the million-dollar investments made by these top organizations. Accordingly, a reported twenty-one companies tried to dive into here, coming from various esports scenes. From the official teams, only one is fresh to the LCK reason from last year.
Here’s the list of teams for the LCK 2021 season:
- DAMWON Gaming
- DRX
- Gen.G
- T1
- Afreeca Freecs
- KT Rolster
- SANDBOX Gaming
- Team Dynamics
- Hanwha Life
- Brion Esports
As part of being franchised, these teams will have the privilege of being safe from relegation for the first season. Beyond this, a franchised structure will also provide players financial stability, with each player entitled to at least $49,000.
The new team is none other than Brion Esports. Not necessarily new to the region, the organization has been heavily involved in the Challengers league and has happily made the leap to the main league.
Note that moving to just 10 teams will encourage roster changes.
