The LPL, League of Legends Pro League for China has announced that the LDL, academy league of the LPL will be suspended due to potential match fixing. Here is everything you need to know about it:
LDL suspended due to potential match fixing – Why?
The main reason for the suspension is not known yet. However we can expect that the recent drama from former FPX jungler Bo has something to do with it. In the original situation, Bo admitted to persuasion into match-fixing, back in the LDL of Summer 2020. Apart from that, the pandemic situation in China hasn’t been doing too well either. Despite not revealing what the cause of the suspension might be, the current health situation globally could have definitely had an impact on the league.
When is it going to be back?
With the LDL being indefinitely suspended from the 17th of March, we have no clue when the league will resume. However, as this investigation progresses, we’re sure that we’ll be getting more updates and notifications about what’s going to happen.
It’s definitely good news out of Riot Games and all their staff over at the LPL that they’re investigating this match fixing issue. Match fixing has been a huge problem within the esports scene as of late, and making sure that everyone involved is disciplined is key to try and reduce it as much as possible.
Hopefully this goes out as a message that Riot wants what’s best for the competitive integrity of their esport.
