Finally, the 2020 Masters Tour series tournaments are back. Accordingly, they celebrate the top Hearthstone competitors in the world fighting for GrandMasters 2020. The next event, Masters Tour 2020 Montreal, is the fifth event of the season. Let’s take a quick preview!
Running from 11-13th September, the Tier 1 event puts $500,000 on the line. Organized by Blizzard Entertainment, qualification for the event has concluded already.
In terms of format, the event will use a ‘Conquest‘ format typical within the Tier 2 esport. It’s somewhat complicated, but here’s a simplification:
- The competition plays over 3 days
- Day 1 involves 5 rounds of Swiss pairings
- Day 2 involves winners from Day 1, thrown into 4 more Swiss pairings
- On the last day, the top 8 fight in a single-elimination playoff
Masters Tour 2020 Montreal, as an online tournament, looks to crown another Masters Champion. Predictions are somewhat impossible due to the fact that almost every event a new champion is crowned – this is due to the open nature of these events and the high level of competition involved.
This is an opportunity for lower competition to compete while GrandMasters is currently underway.
