Riot Games have announced a new VALORANT game mode, Escalation, coming to live servers when the game hits patch 2.03. Here is a brief rundown of what it is, and how to play it:
New VALORANT game mode Escalation – How to play?
This new game mode features a quick and fast-paced casual match between 10 players. Teams are split into 2 and have to work together in order to win. If you’ve played Arms Race on CS:GO, or Gun Game on COD, you know how the rules go.
There are a total of 12 escalation levels which consist of a specific weapon or ability. In order for a team to reach these escalation levels, a team must earn 7 points. If a player is using a weapon or ability from a previous level, he earns his team 0.5 points, whereas if he’s using a weapon or ability of the current level, he earns the team 1 whole point.
Here is how the Escalation loadout works:
- Level 1: Always either Raze’s Showstopper or Vandal/Phantom
- Level 2: Always Vandal or Phantom.
- Levels 3–11: Assorted weapons and abilities
- Level 12: Possible Shorty, Classic, Knife, Shock Dart…or even the Snowball Launcher
- Health: Every death drops a health pack that expires after 10 seconds
Each player will have to earn his weapon or ability individually, and you need to earn at least 1 kill to upgrade to the next level. Games run for 7 or 9 minutes approximately, meaning that it’s the perfect game mode to get into if you’re just looking to frag out!
More information on Escalation
After each match, players will receive a total of 800XP for completing a match, and an additional 200XP if they win. With regards to the longevity of this game mode, Riot have mentioned that the game is currently listed as a limited time game mode, so be sure to play some before it’s gone!
