Competitive Rainbow Six Siege roared to the top this weekend with the likes of the yearly Six Invitational. Indeed, the $3,000,000 concluded only yesterday with an incredible climax. As you’ve likely heard, the Ninjas in Pyjamas Six Invitational Champions have left quite a ripple in the scene. Read on as we view their journey to victory!
Ninjas in Pyjamas Six Invitational – Not The Favourites
Right off the bat, I’d like to point out that NiP were not the favourites heading into this event. Bearing this in mind, they weren’t too hot out the gates too.
Starting in the group stage, they earned a third seed in Group B under the likes of TSM and MIBR. At this point, seeing the likes of two Brazilian teams, MIBR and NiP, was already quite promising for the region. That’s where we jump into the bracket.
Here, Ninjas in Pyjamas went on quite the hot streak. Indeed, after taking down BDS Esports, they moved on to sweep FaZe. Further on, they then took down MIBR. As the community buzzed with excitement for the surprising run, the team found the favourite waiting for them in the grand finals – Team Liquid – another Brazilian team.
After an incredible undefeated bracket run, Ninjas in Pyjamas thwarted Liquid’s attempt to hang on and claimed what was almost theirs last year. Definitely, after losing last year in the grand finals, this win was very much deserved.
Beyond this win for Ninjas in Pyjamas, it’s rather glaring that the top 3 teams are all Brazilian. Accordingly, it’s no shy fact that Brazilian R6 is currently the best in the world.
