OG, FunPlus Phoenix, and G2 were 3 of 12 teams to qualify for IEM Summer through the closed qualifier which played out yesterday.
How did they qualify?
Due to their high seed invite, G2 Esports started in the 1st round of the upper bracket against Mouz. G2 won the close series 2-1 and advanced onto the 2nd round versus FPX. Here G2 went through an upsetting loss and they dropped into the losers bracket. With this win, FunPlus Phoenix confirmed their qualification for the main event in Summer. Then, G2 faced off Mousesports for a 2nd time, and won to qualify for the Summer seed.
OG on the other hand had quite a clean ride through the bracket. They took on Trident Clan first, winning the series 2-0, and advancing to the 1st round of the upper bracket versus FaZe Clan. OG replicated their results and won their match versus FaZe 2-0. Now their next task was to beat the Movistar riders squad to qualify. For a 3rd time in a row, OG grabbed a 2-0 in the series and qualified to the main event.
