How did they do it?
Day 1:
They kicked off the tournament with a very slow start, managing to get only a 12th place and 4 kills in the first round, and placing 14th with just one kill in the 2nd round. However on the third round they managed to grab a 4th position and take down 4 opponents. They then had a break to day 1 after three intensive matches and continued with the rest of day 1 shortly after. They concluded the day with remarkable results, placing 2nd with 9 kills on round 4, placing 3rd with 8 eliminations, and for their final game, grabbing a chicken dinner with an outstanding amount of 13 kills. They ended day 1 with a total of 64 points.
Day 2:
On the 2nd day of GLL PUBG Season 4, they came out with a strong start on round 7, already grabbing a win on the first match of the day, with another impressive 11 kills. Then came round 8, where they struggled a bit to find their ground, and ended that match with a 3rd position and only 3 eliminations. Round 9 was quite mediocre getting only a 5th place but with 7 kills. After their break they recovered their early losses by placing 3rd and getting 11 eliminations on the 10th round. Miramar was next on the menu for round 11, where they managed to once again grab a win with 7 kills, but unfortunately had a terrible ending to the day by finishing 11th with only 2 kills on the 12th round. WTSG currently sit at 138 points. By the end of day 2, they were 48 points above the 2nd placing team which was Omaken Sports.
Day 3:
The final day of GLL PUBG Season 4 and all teams apart from WTSG are below 100 points. By this point, it was pretty much a done deal. WTSG had a strong start to the event and continued slaying till day 2. Although it seems like the Europeans took a bit of an off day on the final day as their results were very poor. Starting off day 3 with a 6th position but 0 kills on round 13, and a 4th placement but only 2 kills on round 14. The rest of the matches were pretty disappointing – 12th position 4 kills on round 15, 15th position 1 kill on round 16, last place on round 17 with only 1 kill, and to end off the day and the tournament, an 11th placement and 2 kills.
Despite the shocking results that WTSG had on the final day, they still managed to total up to 154 points and win the whole event with a pretty confident lead from day 1, up to day 3.
Broadcast Statistics:
The broadcast for GLL PUBG Season 4 Finals had a total of 24,995 peak viewers over 21 hours of air time. They had an average of 13,398 viewers, and their most viewed match was round 17. For the PUBG Season 4 Finals, GLL used a new twitch channel /GLLPUBG (25k followers) instead of the usual twitch channel /GLL (100k followers) which might’ve been the reason why there wasn’t a very high Peak viewer count. Another reason might be that since it was being played out on the same dates as IEM Katowice, the majority of viewers prioritized watching Katowice instead of GLL.
All in all, the tournament was a success, and we cannot wait for the next Major PUBG event which is scheduled to be the PUBG Global Series: Berlin between April and May. Will WTSG manage to keep it up? Stay tuned on esportsguide.com to not miss it!
