News

Across the globe, PUBG Mobile is running rampant with competition. Indeed, Tencent is pushing the PUBG Mobile Pro League as an opportunity to cultivate competition across borders. That got us thinking – which regions have the best PUBG Mobile Viewership? Read on for another Regional Rumble!

PUBG Mobile Viewership – Indonesian Dominance

Approaching this task, we’ve once again tried to keep things standardized. Luckily for us, these past few weeks many PMPL events concluded for multiple reasons. Indeed, we’ll be using viewership statistics via Esports Charts.

Of note, the following list does not include every single region out there. Indeed, as a compliment to the competitive scene, there are simply too many to list, so we’ve kept the top contenders in this list. Also, it must be noted that certain regions such as the LATAM, Arabia and CIS regions have events in the coming days which could have made the list. However, we’ll be using statistics available as of today. Here they are!

  1. Indonesia PMPL Season 3 2021 – 631,567 Peak, 231,961 Average
  2. Malaysia and Singapore PMPL Season 3 2021 – 306,416 Peak, 65, 492 Average
  3. Turkey PMPL Season 1 2021 – 83,388 Peak, 42,573 Average (event ongoing)
  4. South Asia PMPL Season 3 2021 – 53,669 Peak, 24,019 Average
  5. Thailand PMPL Season 3 2021 – 52,826 Peak, 18,699 Average
  6. Brazil PMPL Season 1 2021 – 36,313 Peak, 10,828 Average
  7. Vietnam PMPL Season 3 2021 – 32,025 Peak, 7,760 Average
  8. NA PMPL Season 1 2021 – 28,172 Peak, 6,297 Average
  9. South East Asia PMCO 2021 Spring Wildcard – 21,791 Peak, 9,743 Average

I think it is very clear that primarily Indonesia, followed up by MYSG, are the biggest fans of competitive PUBG Mobile. Meanwhile, this is followed and trailed by other regions in the area such as South Asia. Furthermore, it is evident that NA is still growing to love the esport compared to others.

What about India?

Definitely a topic I want to discuss. This past year, the banning of PUBG Mobile in India was a big hit to the scene, as the region loved the esport dearly.

Despite this ban, which may potentially be reversed, Esports Charts has also revealed that 29.2% of total viewership is through the Hindi broadcast (Indian oriented). This merely follows the 33.9% owned by the Indonesian sector – these statistics come from events hosted in 2020.

So while a ban may be in place, the locals are still endeared and enthusiastic as viewers. However, with the availability of Garena Free Fire, we’re unsure how long this will last for PUBG Mobile.

Moving Forward – New Regions

One phenomenal aspect behind competitive PUBG Mobile, is the rate at which new regional competitions are being held. Accordingly, in the next few months we’ll be keeping an eye out. So far, events for the EMEA, Arabia and Western Europe look to kick off and raise up new regions.

What have we learnt through this discussion?

It seems that bearing in mind Indonesia’s dominance, we’ll be keeping an eye out on this region more closely. Furthermore, Tencent might want to consider doing its utmost to lift the local Indian ban of the title, considering the vast viewership being sourced from this region.

Regardless, this friendly discussion isn’t meant to place one region over one another. Indeed, it is to celebrate how widespread and dominant PUBG Mobile has become. So much so, that the all-time peak last year was a whopping 3,801,998! That’s why PUBG Mobile is Tier 1!
