Well, over the past few years, Tencent has guided the esport very well. Beyond simply hosting events, Tencent has pushed the title to each corner of the world.
So much so, that a massive number of continental and regional leagues are held each month, with new regions constantly expanding and finding success.
Bearing this in mind, and the record-breaking viewership the esports scene has been enjoying, in our last Esports Tier List we happily promoted the title to ‘Tier 1’ status.
Granting evidence to this claim, let’s take a look at the past year to see if the events have been up to par for the esport.

Kicking things off with this time last year, the brown leaves of 2020 brought with it the PUBG Mobile World League 2020.
Going ahead as planned despite the move to online due to the global health situation, the PUBG Mobile World League 2020 still managed to pull an incredible amount of viewership.
Uniting the world with some of the best teams out there, the event was a great spectacle to enjoy during the summer heat.
PUBG Mobile Pro League Fall 2020 Southeast Asia – October 2020

Moving over to the Winter, here’s when the regular season events began to take place.
Out of all the regions, we’ve chosen to highlight the Southeast Asian one as a particular favourite for competitive PUBG Mobile.
Indeed, as you’ll see a few times here, competitive Southeast Asia has a particular love for the title – offering roughly 500,000 peak viewers at one point in time.
PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season 0: Finals – January 2021

Managing to gather almost 4,000,000 peak viewers, this event stands as the number 1 viewed event of all time for competitive PUBG Mobile. With such epic statistics, at this point in time the season was already a massive success – nothing more to say.
PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 3 2021 Indonesia – March/April 2021

Acting as the largest country in Southeast Asia, the PMPL Season 3 Indonesia event in March is our next stop.
Placing a regular $150,000 on the line, the community still showed the event a tone of love once again with a peak of almost 640,000.
Otherwise, this only serves as a reminder of how beloved the title is in the region.
PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 3 2021 Southeast Asia Finals – May 2021

Well, in fear of being repetitive – over in May, the PMPL Season 3 SA Finals garnered an incredible amount of attention. Indeed, with the peak viewers of over a million, the event is officially the third most viewed competitive PUBG Mobile event of all time.
We simply can’t wait to see what this region has to offer in the future of competitive PUBG Mobile.

Although behind Southeast Asia, it’s great to see how the love for the title is also found miles away, with a respectable peak of 150,000 for the region.
PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2021 – July 2021

Then, out of nowhere, Tencent announced a charity event in July called the PUBG Mobile World Invitational.
Bearing in mind the nature of the event, we’re incredibly impressed with the peak viewership – making this the fourth most viewed event ever in the history of competitive PUBG Mobile.
Competitive PUBG Mobile 2020/21 – Invading the Industry, the World
Overall, what’s most impressive about the dominance of competitive PUBG Mobile over the past year is the fact that no offline events were held! Indeed, while other esports use this as an excuse, this mobile title needs not resort to this.
Oftentimes, here we offer criticism over the past year. With regards to competitive PUBG Mobile, however, there isn’t much to complain about.
Tencent’s approach to expanding their esport is one many others should definitely take note of.
