Why is it big news?
Recently we covered a topic similar to this, with context referring to the LEC Playoffs. Akshan, League of Legends’ newest champion entered the summoner’s rift but we yet to see him in action. Due to ruling 7.4.3 we won’t be seeing Akshan at the playoffs, however many took it for granted that we’ll be seeing him at Worlds too. Unfortunately this is not the case. Check tweet below:
Community Reaction
Many were disappointed with this news as a lot of fans were excited to see this new and ecstatic champion played at the biggest stage. Riot have been quite vocal on this recently, and while it’s great to be transparent about certain decisions, not all have been the brightest recently.
Akshan disabled for Worlds 2021 – Why?
Along with Max’s statement, came a question from Fernando Cardenete, asking why Akshan banned at Worlds. Max replied with the following:
“These decisions are obviously always done in working closely together with the Gameplay team. And if a Champion only gets limited exposure in pro play that makes balancing significantly harder of course – which is part of the reason the old rule existed in the first place.”
